Chapter 2
- Nysera
- Life continued for the next three years with Rana turning me into a villain no matter and no matter how hard I tried to explain, nobody believed me but I didn’t give up, I knew one day they’d see the truth in my words and see Sofia for who she truly was.
- Today was Rana’s engagement to her boyfriend, Kyle and everywhere was buzzing with excitement. The maids moved around, whispering praises of Rana around, my brothers supervised everything, making sure everything was perfect for her and it felt like I was alone battling with my cramps while I pressed my phone, trying to take my mind off the intense pain.
- I stepped outside to take in the fresh air when I found mom and dad speaking with Rana who was grinning.
- “Where have you been? Your sister is getting married. Did you lock yourself up in the room because you’re jealous?” Dad demanded and I shook my head.
- “No… I’ve been having cramps since morning…”
- “Oh my, are you okay? Do you need drugs? I want you to be beside me today at the party, I don’t think you’d be able to do that…”
- “She will, you’re going to do everything that Rana wants, today is her day and there’s no way you’re going to ruin it!” Dad snapped and I swallowed, nodding my head slowly.
- “Dad…” She was still speaking when I felt Raven at the edge. It was surprising because Raven had no reason to be visible today, it was the full moon and we never agreed on going for a run.
- My heart began racing as my senses sharpened, I began to scent a strong masculine scent around me, it was intense, intoxicating and surreal.
- My heart began pounding heavily, I was looking around, scanning the area for this ideal make whose scent filled my nostrils.
- “Mine! Mate!” Raven growled, it was a loud rumble that tore through the air, making everyone alert.
- The scent felt familiar and at the same time it was unique, like the best thing I had ever smelled in the world.
- I began running out hastily, excitement and joy surging through my veins at the realization that I had just found my mate.
- My second half was just somewhere around here and as I dashed out, mom and Rana ran after me.
- I stopped outside at a tainted car, it belonged to Kyle, Rana’s boyfriend who had just arrived and my heart tripled its beat as I neared it.
- I was filled with fear, I began to mutter prayers within me, hoping my mate ends up being the guards or anybody but Rana’s mate and like always, luck was never on my side.
- Kyle stepped out of the car, looking restless and unable to suppress the mate's pull.
- “Mate.” He growled as he stared at me, his eyes filled with tenderness and for a moment, the world faded into space and all we did was get lost in each other’s eyes, speaking without words.
- “What is going on?” Dad spoke up and we snapped back to reality, Rana had a dejected look on her face while Blade and Valen stared at me with disdain.
- “Really? Are you that jealous of Rana? Is this the trick you wish to pull?” Valen was filled with disgust and I shook my head.
- “It’s fine everyone, it seems fate cannot be overlooked after all, If she had grown up in the family then she’d be the one getting engaged to Kyle today, it’s fine, I’m willing to let her get engaged to Kyle today…” Rana suggested, smiling faintly and Blade shook his head.
- “No, today is your happy day and nobody is going to ruin it, you’ve looked forward to this day for years, this is all a part of Nysera’s plan, how dare you do such a thing to Rana! When are you going to stop seeing her as a competition? Why can’t you live your life without trying to take what she has? We love you both equally and that should be enough!” Blade snapped and I opened my mouth to speak but dad cleared his throat.
- “Enough! You will reject her, Kyle. Today is your engagement to Rana and nothing is going to come between that.” Dad announced and my jaws dropped as my eyes became tears instantly.
- I turned to mom but she averted her gaze immediately, in support of what dad had just said.
- “You’re both my daughters, we’re going to find a good husband for you too, Nysera.” She replied and I nodded, biting back tears as the pain in my heart tripled.
- “I, Kyle of the Raven claw pack, reject you, Nysera of the ShadowWalk pack as my mate.” He announced and with each word that was said, it felt like my heart was getting slit slowly with a sword.
- “I… I accept your rejection.” I replied, my lips quivering while my hands trembled and they all joined Kyle cheerfully as they led him into the house, leaving me to mend my broken heart myself.
- I fell to the ground, tears rolling down my cheeks uncontrollably as I tried to hold back the pain but the more I tried, the harder it became. My wolf was devastated.
- This wasn’t what was said about mates, mates never rejected each other, mates would never ignore their counterparts or put them in pain.
