Chapter 8 Report

  • The wind was raging while dust was flying. The sun above our head was covered by dark clouds, and the surroundings suddenly dimmed.
  • I was so scared that I quickly hugged Cassius' arm and asked, "Mr. Deity, did the corpse turn into a zombie?"
  • The moment I asked that, the middle-aged man started screaming, "Ah! Ghost… There's a ghost!"
  • "Dad, I know I was wrong. It's all my fault. Please spare me." Linda kneeled on the ground, bowing her head in horror. "D-Dad, don't come here… Don't… Ah!"
  • Following a scream, the woman rolled her eyes and lost consciousness. On the other hand, the man's face paled and after he trembled on the spot for a while, he suddenly yelled, turned around, and ran out to the streets.
  • Once the man left, the cold wind stopped.
  • From the beginning to the end, I only saw them losing their mind with no sign of a ghost at all. However, Cassius didn't possess me, so it was normal that I couldn't see any ghosts.
  • I held Cassius' arm tightly and asked again, "Did the corpse change into a zombie?"
  • Cassius glanced at me and questioned, "The sun is up. How can it still turn into a zombie?!"
  • "Just now, though..." I instantly figured out that Cassius had to be teaching the two siblings a lesson since they deserved the punishment anyway.
  • He did the right thing.
  • I then asked, "Mr. Deity, was that your magic just now? Now that I'm your disciple, can I learn this magic?"
  • Whenever I meet people whom I dislike in the future, I would love to summon ghosts to scare them away.
  • "Sure," answered Cassius. "But it's not easy for ordinary people to practice spells, and they may not be able to master them even after a lifetime. Since you are my apprentice, it will be much easier if you absorb my deity energy."
  • After hearing that, I immediately asked in excitement, "How do I do that?"
  • "Like this." Cassius suddenly rose to his height and pressed on top of me. He tilted his head slightly while his lips came closer to mine, which made me freeze up as I gulped. Just when our lips were about to touch, he suddenly stopped and uttered out of nowhere, "Let's go back."
  • After saying that, he got up and went to the streets.
  • My heart was beating wildly and it took me a long time before I came back to my senses. Why did he stop? Why didn't he kiss me…
  • Realizing that I was feeling lost because of the lack of touch, I hurriedly patted my face to calm myself.
  • What was wrong with me?
  • Even though he was handsome, he wasn't human! Why would I think of getting intimate with him…
  • After that, I took a cab back to Benevolent Hall.
  • Seeing that Cassius and I had returned, Mr. Lee came out from behind the desk and smiled respectfully. "You've worked hard, Mr. Deity."
  • Cassius asked, "Is everything ready?"
  • Mr. Lee nodded. "Yes. I already prepared everything for you, Mr. Deity."
  • Hearing that, Cassius stepped into the room where the altar was set up.
  • I tugged at Mr. Lee's arm and inquired, "Mr. Lee, what have you prepared?"
  • "You'll know when you head in." After saying that, he paused before he said to me nervously, "Remember your original intentions, young lady."
  • "What?" I was puzzled. "What does that mean?"
  • He shook his head and answered, "Nothing. Go on in."
  • After giving him a strange look, I turned around and entered the room. In addition to tributes and candles, there was also a piece of talisman paper on the table with a brush and ink next to it.
  • Standing in front of the altar, Cassius pointed to the talisman paper and said, "This is called reporting. Every time we return from a mission, we have to write what we solved and burn them for the higher ups to read. It's just part and parcel of the job."
  • Once the higher ups have confirmed the veracity of the report, they would then reward the deities with merits. This was how the so-called accumulation of virtue was done. Once the merits and virtues were all completed, they would finally ascend to immortality.
  • I understood the process, but…
  • "Must I use a brush to write?"
  • Cassius nodded.
  • I had no choice but to bite the bullet and pick up the brush, but my hand started shaking before I wrote. After writing one word, as expected, the handwriting was so terrible that it was unreadable.
  • Frowning, Cassius questioned, "Aren't you a student? Don't you know how to write?"
  • "Of course, I do, but not with a brush." I didn't want to be looked down upon, so I hurriedly explained, "Can I use a ball pen—"
  • Before I could finish my sentence, I felt another body leaning toward me from behind.
  • He stood behind me and held the altar with one hand while grasping the brush that I held with his other hand. As he leaned forward slightly, his face was almost touching mine.
  • His breath landed on my face, making me feel a slight tingle all the way to my heart.
  • Under his guidance, I was able to write beautiful calligraphy. While he looked at the table, I silently tilted my head to look at him.
  • He had a fair complexion, flawless skin, and beautiful brows. My gaze descended from his eyes to his nose before it finally settled on his slightly pale lips.
  • His lip color was of a light shade and even resembled the pink jelly, which looked delicious. Thinking of the soft touch of those lips, the greed in my heart was aroused again.
  • At this time, Cassius seemed to notice that I had been staring at him, so he turned his head to look at me. When he parted his lips slightly and was about to speak, I pounced on him. While being gentle, I bit his lips and imitated the way he kissed me before I stuck my tongue into his mouth.
  • The corners of Cassius' lips curled slightly to reveal a smile. He then took the initiative to deepen the kiss.
  • Afterward, he put his arms around my waist.
