Chapter 7 Whining

  • Following the sudden jerk of my body, I regained control of my body again. At the same time, I felt physically drained as if I had completed a heavy physical activity. Not only was I panting heavily, my legs were so weak that I couldn't stand up at all, so I crashed to the ground.
  • Seeing that, Cassius reached out and pulled me in his arms.
  • Although his embrace was cold and did not contain any human warmth, I did not find it scary at all. At this moment, he was even warmer than other human beings to me.
  • Even if the old man had turned into an evil ghost, Cassius could still defeat the man. He was capable of making the old man leave once and for all, yet he did not do that. He came to persuade the old man to let go of his resentment and reincarnate, so he didn't just save a life. He saved a soul and the man's entire being.
  • Cassius was a compassionate deity.
  • I looked at him, and a feeling of admiration suddenly rose in my heart. "Mr. Deity, you are so kind. I'm sure you will become a great deity everyone looks up to."
  • Meanwhile, he placed me on the yellow mat and was unmoved by my flattery. "Offer your prayers and keep vigil."
  • My plan was to butter him up, and once he was happy, I would suggest leaving this place. Who knew that he told me to keep vigil again before I could even raise it up with him?
  • I then questioned, "He's going to be reincarnated. Why do we have to keep vigil?"
  • "Waking as a zombie is an act of the corpse. His soul is being reincarnated, but his corpse is still here," explained Cassius. "Don't try to slack. If he turns into a zombie, you'll be the first to die."
  • "Really? Is that true?"
  • Cassius glanced at me coldly and ignored me. Though I suspected he was lying to me, I had no proof. I was still a coward who didn't want to die, so I still obeyed his words.
  • Dragging my exhausted body, I knelt properly and lit three candles. After seeing the candles burning on their own, I heaved a sigh of relief and started to keep vigil.
  • The first half of the night was fine. When I heard the cat meowing, I jolted as if a big enemy was coming and my body became tense. However, I couldn't stand it any longer in the middle of the night. Last night, I had been tossed around and I even ran around during the day, so I was already physically exhausted. I held on for a while, but eventually, I fell asleep in a daze.
  • The next day, I was awakened by voices. I opened my eyes to find myself lying on the ground with my head resting on Cassius' lap. When I opened my eyes and saw such a handsome face, I felt like I was in a dream.
  • Cassius was sitting on the yellow cushion and throwing twigs into the brazier. Seeing that I had woken up, he stretched out his hand to push me.
  • Since I had just woken up and still felt drowsy, I hugged Cassius' waist and muttered, "Let me lie down a little longer." As soon as the words left my mouth, I realized how whiny I sounded.
  • I blushed with embarrassment and hurriedly got up from Cassius.
  • His back also stiffened a little as he looked at me. It wasn't until I sat down on the yellow cushion that he made a move by leaning over suddenly.
  • He looked about six feet tall while I was only five feet two. Even though we were seated, he was still a lot taller than me. When he leaned over, his broad figure cast a shadow on me and completely enveloped me.
  • My heart beat faster, and just as I was about to ask him what he was going to do, my lips suddenly felt cold. Two soft lips stuck to mine. Soon, the tip of his tongue pried open my teeth and entered my mouth, entangling with my tongue.
  • Although we already hit the homerun on the first night I met him, that night felt too much like a dream to me. Throughout the process, I was in a daze, but I was now clearly aware that he was kissing me.
  • My eyes widened because Cassius currently had his eyes closed. The coldness between his brows faded, revealing only tenderness and obsession.
  • Thinking that I was the reason behind that look, I suddenly felt an unprecedented sense of satisfaction in my heart and even thought of cooperating with him in my mind.
  • When that idea popped into my mind, I took action. I reached out to hook my arms around his neck, wanting to deepen the kiss. However, he suddenly let go of me. He ripped my arms off him, got up, and smoothed his clothes. His expression was cold and handsome like a deity; he was unaffected by the earlier kiss.
  • But I was!
  • The feeling was like someone stuffing candy into my mouth, and as soon as I tasted the sweetness, the person snatched the candy from me. After being aroused by the sweetness but being told that I couldn't have it, my heart itched.
  • I stood up and wanted to continue kissing him, but I was too embarrassed to take the initiative. At this time, the curtain of the booth was lifted and the middle-aged couple who left yesterday came in one after the other.
  • I didn't want others to find me in such an embarrassing state, and I didn't like them at all, so I turned around and walked out without even saying hello.
  • Even though I didn't want to bother them, they didn't let me go.
  • Seeing me walk out of the booth, the middle-aged man followed me and questioned, "Were you the one who decorated the funeral hall? How much did it cost?"
  • I thought he was going to pay me back, so I answered, "This is my last respect for Grandpa. You don't have to pay me back."
  • "Who said I was going to pay you back? Dream on!" the man countered. "If you have the money to decorate the funeral hall, then you should also have the money to pay off the debt. Return the money you owed my father."
  • I was infuriated upon hearing that. Even if I did owe money to the old man, I wouldn't pay a sc*mbag like him! Then, I huffed, "The money has gone to setting up the funeral hall. Grandpa was the one who lent money to me, so I have to pay him back. Now that the money is all used on him, I've paid off my debt."
  • "D*mn it! You're not going to pay your debt, are you?" The man stared at me with a menacing look on his face. It was like he was threatening me that I wouldn't be able to leave if I didn't pay by today.
  • Soon, Linda also chimed in. "Which school are you from? I'm going to head to your school and talk to your principal! If you don't pay us, we will make you drop out of school!"
  • I clenched my fists angrily and stared at this pair of shameless siblings.
  • Suddenly, I regretted stopping the old man.
  • Then, a cat's meow suddenly came from the booth. It sounded desolate and piercing especially in the quiet morning. Following that, a gust of cool wind burst out of the booth. My heart skipped a bit. Did the corpse turn into a zombie?
