Chapter 7
- Becoming The Luna
- ***Leila's POV***
- The evening breeze was both calm and soothing as it kissed my skin, I relished the thoughts of serving as Luna, even if it was for one night. I felt a wave of mixed emotions wash over me. I felt happy that I was chosen to serve in the Triumph procession and also nervous, really nervous at the fact that I had never done this before. This was my first time. I never imagined I would amount to much in life after my mother died. But this was a role assigned to me by our Alpha and I couldn't say no. As I pondered more over it, I noticed beads of sweat forming across my forehead, about to trickle down my face as my hands become clammy.
- I stole a glance at myself in the vanity mirror in front of me, I beamed a smile at how beautiful I looked and how nicely the dress accentuated my overall appearance, I could not wait for Alpha Xander to see me. The house was almost empty, as both my parents were at the venue of the celebration. I was waiting for the Alpha to send his escorts which would accompany me to the venue of the procession. Right then, I had the front door creak open and my heart skipped a beat.
- “Romero, is that you!?” I called out in my soft voice, but here was no response. Immediately, the lights went off in the house causing me to jolt in fear.
- “Who's there!!” I yelled, squinting my eyes through the looming darkness but I saw nothing. Three huge wolves appeared from the darkness, their eyes gawking at me as they growled, circling me. I tried to put up a fight but they were too strong for me. One of them pushed me to the cold floor as the other tied my hands and foot together, “Gag her, I don't want to hear any noise on our way back” The third man commanded in a stern voice. “Let go of me!!” I kicked back in rage.
- “Shut up!!!” the third man seethed as he walked towards me, I struggled with the knot to untie my hands and legs, before I felt a heavy blow to my head. My vision turned blurry and I zoned out.
- *********
- When I opened my eyes, I was in a different environment. The atmosphere was damp as the air reeked of rotten blood. I was shackled up to the ground in a dimly lit room, I looked around and noticed I was the only one in the room. I tried to break free, but these chains were made of Silver, making it hard to destroy, except I had the key.
- The door to the room swung open and two figures walked in. “Amelia!” I gasped in horror, as shivers ran down my spine. Then another man followed behind her.
- “Well well well, who do we have here?” the man chuckled with a devilish growl.
- “If it isn't the infamous Leila, once lost but now is found.” he laughed hysterically. I sat there confused, trying to make sense of all the gibberish he was saying.
- “Who are you!!! and what do you want from me!!” I snapped at him, my gaze fixed on Amelia. I knew, the two of us didn't get along so well, but I never imagined she would stoop this low to hurt me.
- “Don’t worry child, soon you will know why you are here.” the man smirked at him, his voice cold and distant.
- Amelia strode towards me and crouched in front of me. “I will make sure I take away every bit of happiness in your life. I've been waiting for this opportunity for a very long time. This is only the beginning of your suffering sister, and don't think you can escape me or my father this time!” she said through gritted teeth. My eyes widened in horror as she mentioned the word dad. “Wait! What? So this monster is your father?” I spat out. I could now see her for the evil that she truly was.
- “Do you think that pathetic Beta, Carlson is my father?” she deadpanned, rolling her eyes in disgust. “Poor Leila, I wish I had the luxury of time to explain everything to you, but I don't. I've got a kingdom that needs a Luna.” she scoffed in sarcasm and sauntered away.
- My heart panged with pain, after hearing everything Amelia said to me. I felt my entire world crumble before me, my knee buckled as events of the past flashed through my mind like a movie.
- ‘So Amelia had been the one behind all my problems this whole time?’ I muttered to myself. ‘But I am not special in any way, so what does she want from me?’ I muttered to myself as I struggled to fight back the pool of tears in my eyes.
- The only person I felt like talking to at this moment was my mother. She was the only person that truly understood me, she helped me when I had no one, it hurt me this time, that I would never see her again. At this point, I had no one who truly cared for me. Everyone I knew either despised or tried to use me, because of my naive nature. But not this time, I felt immense rage coursing through my body. My bones cracked as my muscles stretched, what was happening?
- My wolf howled in pain. She wanted to be let loose, but the silver chain was very potent to keep even the most ruthless wolf bond. The more I got angry, the more the pain continued. ‘Please stop, we can't make it even if I let you out’ I pleaded with my wolf, who was now blood thirsty. She was so pissed, she wanted to rip Amelia’s head off her body.
- As I laid on the floor, my whole body twitched in pain, ‘there was no escaping this now’ I said under my breath. I heard a knock on the door and the guard bellowed from outside. “You have a visitor.”
