• There was a long pause after Maverick’s wink, and while we both stayed silent, I leaned back in my chair, watching him with cautious eyes, still not entirely sure how someone like him could manage to remain so annoyingly calm through all of this.
• My heart was still racing from the tension of the meeting with Rurik, and here he was, acting like this was all some sort of casual visit to an old friend.
