• Just as I was about to open my mouth and shut down Rurik’s ridiculous question, a knock came at the door, and as soon as I heard the knock, my jaw tightened.
• I had made it very clear that I was not to be disturbed during meetings unless the building was on fire or someone was bleeding out in the hallway, and hearing the knock right at the very moment only added to the already simmering frustration that had been rising in me since the moment Rurik and Elira walked into my office.
