Chapter 6 "Ask Me What You Want"
- Suddenly the conversation was getting very serious, which only made her nervous.
- "Oh no, don't come to me with sappiness about "making love", don't be ridiculous"
- "Then I am, and tell me what I want to hear before I forget that you have to leave " he threatened, pressing himself against her body.
- "Well, I liked it when you got rough, aggressive but gentle, I could feel your eyes on me, even though it was dark... it was intense " she whispered nervously to bring up the topic.
- "Now I don't want you to go " he kissed her behind the ear.
- "Come on... " she made a gesture to push him away, but she really didn't want to.
- "How are you going to make it up to me? A night apart, and probably more to come, these are supposed to be my vacation, and I want you with me, glued to me and preferably with nothing on"
- "Pervert, but I would also like to be with you all day, without interruptions, but with clothes on, there are many things I would like to know"
- "You would only get information out of me being naked"
- "We'll see " he smiled
- "Ok, come have a drink with me before Evan comes to pick you up"
- "Okay"
- They headed to Matt's office, both silently contemplating the place where they had argued several times.
- Ignoring that thought, Matt approached the bar and poured two glasses of Johnny Walker.
- "Whisky? " she asked horrified.
- "It's just a drink, no big deal " he smiled at her outburst.
- "That's not a girl's drink " she grumbled as she took a sip of her glass.
- "Last night you had several " he reminded her, delighted by her reaction.
- "Yes, but I had already been drinking and needed something strong to numb me, you were eager to touch me, I had to calm my nerves somehow, don't you think?"
- "I could calm your nerves, and much more"
- "There's the pervert in expensive suits!"
- "So when are you going to introduce me to Evan Acton? "she asked, emphasizing the last name.
- "Why do you mention him like that? As if it were obvious that by mentioning his last name I would understand that "sarcasm" of the rudest in your tone of voice "she accused playfully.
- "Edward Acton is the problem"
- "Is my brother's dad a problem?"
- "A headache with a bad temper"
- "Look who's talking "Mr. I don't like to be kept waiting""
- "That's very different, punctuality is part of each person's responsibility, of their manners, it's what defines us"
- "Yes, yes, why do you want to meet Evan?"
- "He was aware of that idiotic issue, which means he is very important to you and has your complete trust"
- "He does, he was the only one who knew that something was wrong with me, the Actons helped me leave Alex behind "she grimaced in disgust as she pronounced his name" Edward made me talk to a psychologist, and I'm pretty sure he broke the rule of not talking about intimate patient matters, but he never said anything"
- "Wow "he whispered, surprised.
- "What surprises you? "curious Victoria inquired.
- "I didn't expect him to care about you, that man only cares about himself, and he has shown it in his business, he doesn't mind firing everyone if he wants to, he doesn't care about their families or if they need any kind of financial help"
- "You are very soft, but very cold in your expression, Edward is both, he's pushy, you're considerate"
- "And more handsome? "he asked, wrapping his waist with his free arm.
- "And superficial "she accused playfully for being with the playful Matt.
- "That's not true"
- "Yes, it is, you're a spender "she teased.
- "And you'll have to get used to it "he warned very seriously.
- "No, you're the "multi"rich guy," not me.
- "Victoria"
- "I refuse to talk about that, anyway, I have to go, I have to go to Doris, I need her to see Cami, until Noel arrives"
- "I can do it "offered Matt, to calm the anger he saw in her eyes.
- "Yes, sure "she said sarcastically.
- "Don't you trust me?"
- "Not in this "she said sincerely.
- "Hey!"
- "What do you want in return? Your hungry look wants something in return, yes!"
- "You, and you know what I mean"
- "Good night Mr. Rothschild. He likes red jelly, can eat a turkey or tuna sandwich, no sweet things at night, and be careful, she's charming when she wants something"
- "All for my night of perversions"
- "For babysitting for a few minutes? You ask for too much "Victoria laughed as she approached the door.
- "Ask me for anything "offered, leaving his glass on the desk and approaching her in two quick steps.
- "Don't make insinuations when I'm about to leave "she laughed at his little phrase.
- "Come back soon "he whispered in her ear.
- "Matt, this "relationship" we're "having" confuses me "she said, putting aside the jokes.
- "My intentions are very clear, you know what I want from you"
- "A night of perversions "he said to change the subject.
- "A night of perversions every night, forever, no matter how I say it, it means the same thing"
- "I'm not... I'm not sure about... about THAT, we don't know each other, it's ridiculous"
- "I told you I am, but give me the chance to show that I do know you and that I like you, that I love you... and without perversions involved"
- "Would you? "she asked nervously.
- "You have no idea how many things I would do for you"
- With nothing more to say, Victoria threw herself into his arms and kissed him passionately, letting herself be hugged and caressed by this man.
- After an intense moment with Matt, Victoria went to see her sister, who was peacefully sleeping, which was a relief. She was unsure, she didn't want Cami to wake up in that strange place without anyone familiar around. But there was nothing she could do, Evan was already waiting at the entrance of the house, and he was quite impatient when things weren't done as he said or asked. The Acton character.
- As she walked to the entrance of the property, she made a call to her brother, who answered on the third try.
- "Hey Vic, what's up?"
- "What do you mean, what's up? You were supposed to be here with Cami already, where are you?" she said, agitated.
- "Dad asked me to stay with him, we're with the lawyer that your boyfriend sent, he has a medical report of Cami, and he didn't like it much," he replied with absolute displeasure.
- "Listen, I don't like the tone you're using to refer to Matt, you have to respect him. The report was just in case Jamie wants to take her with her, I won't allow her to ruin her childhood."
- "Victoria, that's none of your business."
- "If Hank doesn't want to take responsibility, he can go to hell. Don't come to me with your tantrums now, Noel, I know she's your mom, but so far she's only been YOUR MOM, don't ask me for anything that could benefit her, because my answer will always be NO, clear?" she concluded furiously at her brother's attitude, which was starting to resemble that of their mother.
- "Yes, Vic, I..." he tried to explain, realizing what he had said, but his sister was already upset and didn't let him speak.
- "I'm done, and I prefer you not to come and stay, goodbye."
- She hung up the call quite irritated. She had already made the decision, she wasn't going to allow Cami to be treated as she had been treated.
- "Wow! What did Rothschild do? You look furious," Evan said.
- "Don't bother, Evan, it's not the time."
- "Relax, I'm sorry," he apologized, raising both hands as a gesture of apology and approaching to greet her.
- "Are we leaving now? I want to go back soon," Victoria said.
- "Wow, we haven't even left yet and you already miss it?" he teased.
- "It's not that, Cami is sleeping and Noel was supposed to come to take care of her while I'm not here, but I just argued with him and he's not coming, and I'm not going to tell Matt. I hope Cami sleeps a lot."
- "Then let's go before you regret it," Evan said, smiling mockingly before opening the door of his flashy red Cadillac.
- To lighten her sister's mood, Evan decided to talk to her about his love life, which wasn't very loving.
- "I have serious problems," he said, breaking the silence.
- "What are you talking about? Is everything okay with your dad?" Victoria asked.
- "He's always fine, if not, he fixes it, you know him," Evan replied.
- "I think so."
- "It's a girl."
- "WHAT? Are you kidding me? What happened to not having time to take anything seriously?"
- "You know I hate being controlled and repeating things is not my style."
- "Playboy," she accused, not very pleased with his way of treating women.
- "I admit it, I'm young, I don't want to be accountable to anyone, just to my dad and my little sister."
- "I'll believe you, but don't beat around the bush, tell me something. Why are you telling me this?"
- "It was a couple of months ago, I always saw her coming and going from the library, without realizing it I waited for her to cross paths, first because she reminded me of the time, she always left at the same time, and second because, I don't know, call it curiosity."
- "You've made it clear that you didn't see her in any way and that you weren't attracted to her, but you liked the routine of occasionally bumping into her, but you never had an excuse to talk to her, okay, what else?"
- "Well, you got it out of me "I laughed, pleased with how well you know me.
- "Evan, I know you want to distract me, so get to the point, you're getting there "I smiled affectionately.
- "My damn MAC went black, with all my work inside, and since I'm an idiot, I didn't have backups, so the girl I was with..."
- "How did the topic of your computer come up while you were having sex with the girl of the moment?"
- "In the midst of the heated encounter, I dropped it on the floor and she got scared, but when I told her it was dead, she suggested I take it to the brainiac, who turned out to be the same girl from the library."
- "And you used your Acton skills to get information "she teased playfully.
- "I did, she liked it, I know she liked it, but she doesn't pay attention to my hints and she's driving me crazy."
- "Not all women are easy, it seems you're getting obsessed "she laughed playfully.
- "It's not funny, Victoria, I don't have time or desire to chase after a girl."
- "Then leave her alone, she doesn't deserve false hopes from you, you just want sex with her, is that what's obsessing you, leave her alone now."
- "Now you're on her side."
- "What do you want from her?"
- "Sex, obviously."
- "It's clear that she doesn't want that, leave her alone and let's go eat, I have to go back soon."
- "Victoria, you're crazy about that man."
- "I like him, is that bad? "she admits, sighing as she finally says it out loud.
- "No, little sister, I just don't want you to get hurt ever again."
- "I know."
- They entered the restaurant arm in arm, where they were led to their table and sitting there waiting for them was Edward Acton.
- "What is your dad doing here?"
- "I have no fucking idea."
- As if he knew, Edward got up from his chair and approached to greet Victoria, a kiss on the cheek and a warm handshake.
- "It's a relief to see that you're okay, Victoria."
- "Mr. Acton, I'm fine but..."
- "Formalities again? "he scolded her.
- "This is strange, I always knew that you knew, but you never confirmed it to me "she comments sadly.
- "Victoria, even though it may not seem like it enough, I always care about Evan, he adores you, I won't allow that woman to blame you for my decision to keep her away from my son, I don't like deceit."
- "But Edw..."
- "Enough, you're my son's sister, I'm going to worry even if you don't want me to."
- "That's enough, we came to dinner, what are you doing at our table, dad?"
- "I want to know what happened this afternoon at your parents' house, Victoria."
- "Did you tell her? If she finds out that I went to your dad with the gossip, it's only going to make things worse, I won't allow her to take Cami."
- "Neither will I "Edward declares very confidently.
- "Edward, please, if you get involved it will only make things worse."
- "I won't allow it, I'm a lawyer before I'm a businessman."
- "My dad already has a lawyer."
- "I'm not talking about him, I mean you."
- "Why do I need a lawyer?"
- "It's not the time for that, I want to know what happened, because so far all I know is that she hit your little sister."
- "I want to leave, Evan."
- "No, sit down, both of you."
- The authoritative and serious voice of Edward made them jump, resigned to the fact that they were not going to escape from this conversation. They sat at the table, impatiently waiting for Mr. Acton to give the order for everyone, and finally decided to continue the conversation.
