Chapter 5 "Unfinished Business"
- Feeling down, she made her way to the car, where Matt was waiting impatiently by the door. Suddenly, a shiver ran down her spine, signaling her approach. As soon as he caught sight of her, he noticed something was bothering her. Not known for his patience, he approached her at once and kissed her forcefully.
- "Are you okay?" he asked, holding her face.
- "Not really," she replied, sounding dull.
- "Can I do anything?" he hated seeing her like this.
- "No, let's just take Cami to the doctor right away. I want her to rest."
- "Of course," he whispered, feeling rejected.
- "Thank you, Matt."
- They locked eyes for a moment, and then everything felt right again. He wrapped an arm around her waist and guided her to the car.
- In a silent journey, they made their way to the clinic. Cami was exhausted, but she resisted the fatigue just to spend time with her sister. She held onto her hand firmly, never letting go.
- Meanwhile, Matt never took his eyes off his phone, completely absorbed in solving Victoria's problem. He didn't even realize they had arrived at the clinic until Todd opened the door for him.
- Maintaining his serious demeanor, he walked alongside Victoria to the elevators, going straight up to the tenth floor. He knew exactly where to go, as his efficient assistant had everything arranged. Minutes after Matt gave his name at the reception desk in the pediatric section, they were called in.
- In the luxurious consultation room, the imposing Mr. Rothschild had a brief conversation with the department head, clearly explaining that he needed his expertise before examining the little girl, always accompanied by her older sister.
- "You're being a very charming girl, Camille," the doctor smiled kindly at her.
- "Can I go home now?" Cami asked tiredly.
- "In a moment you can, I just need my boss to sign off on my diagnosis. Do you know what that means?"
- "Is he the one who decides if you did a good job?"
- "Very good, Camille."
- While he was talking to the little girl, his sister's attention was focused on a discussion on the other side of the door. At first, she didn't pay much attention, but the voices became somewhat familiar...
- " No! I don't want you to see her, we have unfinished business, send someone else."
- An agitated Matt was heard saying from the other side of the door, Victoria, feeling uncomfortable, went to see what was happening. She didn't understand, Matt was standing next to his friend Eric, both visibly upset and looking at each other with... resentment.
- " Is everything okay? " she nervously asked.
- " Is this your sister? " Eric asked, surprised to see her.
- " Yes, what's wrong Matt? Can we leave now?"
- " We need to go somewhere else, go get Cami " he ordered without taking his eyes off Eric.
- " But... " Victoria began to say, but was interrupted by Eric.
- " Rothschild, my job has nothing to do with what happened last night, be thankful I didn't press charges and thanks for asking how my brother is."
- " Brother? What happened last night? " she asked, confused.
- " Vic, go with Cami " Matt asked again.
- " No, I want to know what's going on, yesterday they were best friends and now they... I don't know."
- " Innocent Victoria, your "boyfriend" beat up my brother last night, and now he's hospitalized here."
- " Your brother? But..."
- And then it all clicked for Alex, he's the brother of Matt's best and only friend, and now they hate each other. Guilt and fear of being so close to him took over her ability to listen to the insistent requests.
- " It's my fault... " Victoria whispered.
- " What?"
- Matt was angry and now he wasn't understanding what was happening, but when he noticed how Victoria was looking at Eric, he realized she was referring to their friendship. He hadn't even thought that the altercation from the night before could have affected their friendship, but apparently it did. Immediately, he approached her, wrapped his arms around her, and pulled her close.
- " It's not your fault, did you hear me? Eric, go and sign the damn report."
- " Is he the one who's been tormenting you? " Eric asked, stunned.
- " "Tormenting" doesn't cover the hell that bastard put him through, so shut up and sign the papers, now."
- This time it was Eric who felt guilty, he couldn't say more, silently he entered the office.
- " I'm not going to let you blame yourself, Eric knows me, don't feel guilty, let's take Cami home, we have to take care of her."
- " ...yes."
- That's all she could say. She didn't dare to look at Eric again, suddenly the presence of "Mr. Perfect" made her uncomfortable. Throughout the journey, she focused on holding Matt's hand and her little sister.
- By the time they arrived at Matt's house, Cami was half asleep, trying not to scare her, Victoria tried to wake her up, but she was exhausted, physically and emotionally. Carefully, she picked her up and carried her a few steps, but then a strange pain in her forearm pierced her, it felt strange, she didn't remember hitting anything.
- Seeing that strange grimace on Victoria's downcast face, Matt was next to her in seconds and took charge of carrying the little Cami upstairs to the main entrance.
- " Nikolay, ask Kim to prepare a room for Victoria's sister."
- " Right away, sir " he nodded towards his boss before disappearing towards the kitchen.
- "What do you have on your arm?" he asked very seriously, once they were alone.
- "Nothing, I don't know, I must have picked it up wrong."
- "I want to see your arm," he demanded, not at all satisfied with her response.
- "Don't be paranoid."
- Ignoring him, she approached the door to receive Cami's backpack, thanked Todd, and returned to Matt, who still had a furrowed brow.
- "What?" she exclaimed exasperated.
- "I don't like it when you hide things from me."
- "Don't be stupid, what if it was you? Last night... I don't remember clearly, but if it was me... well, if I..." she blushed, feeling unable to finish the sentence.
- "Were you wild?" he raised an eyebrow, teasing her.
- "Yes, maybe you were a bit... 'rough'..."
- "It's adorable when you blush..."
- "...she's always adorable," Cami murmured in her sleep in Matt's arms. They both opened their eyes wide when they realized the type of "conversation" they were having in their presence. Fortunately, the awkward moment was interrupted by Kim, who returned with a bunch of pillows in her hands, announcing that the room was ready.
- In complete silence, they followed her to a room two doors down from Victoria's. Matt carefully placed Cami in the center of the large bed and let his sister settle her. With great attention, he watched as she tucked her into bed, the sparkle in her eyes as she looked at her six"year"old sister was one of pure love. In his selfish mind, Rothschild could only think that he would love for her to look at him with that same sparkle someday, to dedicate her time to him with pleasure, all her affection...
- "Matt? Are you okay?"
- "What?" he asked, feeling somewhat uncomfortable, once again caught daydreaming.
- "You seemed out of it, what were you thinking about?"
- "I was thinking that we were supposed to be alone today, just you and me, without interruptions, and now I have to share you."
- "She's my sister..."
- "I know... let's let her rest."
- Taking her hand, he led her out of the room and straight to his, silently closing the door and then carrying her to the bed, letting himself fall onto it as they kissed slowly...
- "I don't like sharing," he suddenly said, stopping the kiss.
- "What do you mean?" she asked, startled.
- "You're not sleeping with me tonight."
- "Rothschild, I..." she tried to speak, but didn't know what argument to give.
- "Matt, call me Matt, everyone else calls me by my last name, my employees do, please don't."
- "But I like calling you 'Rothschild'," she said, pouting.
- "You make my ability to reason limited," he accused softly, while caressing her cheek with the knuckles of his right hand.
- "Does that mean I drive you crazy, or something like that?"
- "That's right."
- "Oh..."
- With a small smile on his lips, Matt kissed her again, taking his time with each caress, each reaction from her.
- Slowly, they changed positions, allowing her to be on top of him so he could calmly remove the jacket that was bothering him at that moment.
- "What's that?"
- He sat up suddenly, causing her to lose her balance, but managing to hold her by the hips, keeping her very close to him at all times.
- "Did you just deceive me just to find out what the hell I have on my arm? "she accuses, offended.
- "No... it can't be, they're bruises, Victoria. Who did this? "he said in a serious and concerned tone.
- "You already know who it was "she whispers, ashamed.
- "No, tell me please."
- "It was him, when he... approached "suddenly she felt shy under Matt's demanding gaze.
- "I'm sorry... "he hugs her" Are you going to tell me what he said to you?"
- "He didn't say anything..."
- "That's not true, tell me."
- "I... "she sighed, resigned to tell him the truth, or he wouldn't stop insisting.
- "He just grabbed my arm, dug his nails into me, like he used to do before... he said something about remembering old times and... then I stopped listening, I swear I... just wanted to get out of there, he was moving his lips but I don't know what he said, then Todd..."
- "Okay, that's enough, I'm sorry."
- He asked, pulling her into a tight hug, needing to make her forget the bad memory of what happened the night before, that's why, and because of the uncontrollable desire he had to touch her, he began to distribute small kisses all over her face.
- "Matt "she laughed softly" Okay, I'm fine, stop."
- "I don't want to "he said, rolling over on the bed and being on top of her again.
- "What are you doing?"
- "I love hearing you laugh."
- "I..."
- "Don't get nervous, you can tell me anything "he takes her face in his soft hands "Even if it's perverted "he says, suppressing a laugh.
- "ROTHSCHILD! "she yelled scandalized.
- "Come on, tell me something dirty, don't be so prudish "he teased.
- "What do you want me to say? You're the one talking dirty."
- "Come on! "he smiled.
- "No, you're crazy, I'm not going to "she crossed her arms, pouting, which was becoming Matt's favorite.
- "Let's talk about last night, I want to know how you felt this morning after our first night together..."
- Seeing how she blushed, a feeling of pleasure invaded him, he was thinking about what they had done, so to remind her he kissed her passionately, caressing her waist and arms in the process...
- "Did you like it? "he asked without stopping kissing her neck.
- ...yes.
- "Do you want to do it again?"
- ...yes.
- "How about now? "he stopped only to steal one of her looks.
- ...now, now? "she panicked."
- "Yes, we're too close for me not to feel excited."
- "No... I can't, I have to... "she tried to speak, but Matt wasn't giving her many options.
- "Cami will sleep for a couple of hours "Matt continued.
- "I have to go "she managed to say.
- "What? Are you going to leave me alone with your little sister? "he said, panicking, but not moving an inch away from her.
- "No, no, Noel has to arrive any moment."
- "Where are you going? Why didn't you tell me?"
- "I'm just going to have dinner with Evan, I promise to come back as soon as possible."
- "Okay, but if you want me to let go, you're going to have to say something dirty."
- "You only think about sex! "she shouted, desperate to change the subject.
- "Don't say "sex", that's for people who do it without feelings involved, and no, I don't just think about sex, I want to make you feel what I feel for you."
