Chapter 29 "For Two Days"

• She was right, she was trying not to argue with him, despite having every reason to be upset, Christie had insisted on showing up at every event they attended together, just to make her feel out of place. Since they were officially engaged, Victoria had to bite her tongue to not draw attention to her temper, and he hadn't helped much either. That woman knows how to flaunt her status as a rich girl, using her father as a shield so that Matt doesn't put her in her place. Unfortunately, this makes Victoria feel belittled and walked over.
• Then there's Katie, who keeps trying to get into that relationship. She was the one who told Victoria that they met in Washington, on that trip that wasn't all work, in a moment of weakness Matt had resorted to the hotel bar and ended up in that woman's room, that moment was still a blank, he couldn't remember what happened in that room, and the thought that something had happened was killing him, if Victoria found out, she would leave him, he couldn't get that idea out of his head, that's why he was trying to make her forget that conversation.
• Because of that guilt that wouldn't leave him, every night he slept holding onto Victoria, every day the idea of being away from her became more unbearable, he needed her, he wanted her in his life.
