• “Time to leave. You are not helping, and this is not necessary….. I need to talk to Meilei alone.” Tian didn’t budge his grip as Ling tried to peel his hand off, getting more furious by the second. She was almost as tall as him in heels, but he was much stronger and had no intent of backing down.
• “Over my dead body…. Do you think I would trust you with her seeing how buddy you are with that jackal over there? I can tell just by how you’re manhandling a woman that you’re as much of a spineless bully as he is.” Ling’s inner demon was ignited by the fact that this man didn’t seem fazed by her hostile attitude and that he was annoyingly still restraining her while she fought and twisted to no avail. He didn’t break a sweat. He wasn't hurting her, but his vice-like grip was unmovable. The tension between them grew to suffocating levels, and sparkles and crackles were almost visible.
• “Calm down, Ling…. It’s okay. I will talk to him.” Meilei’s soft voice from near the door came at her. She had never ventured closer for fear of having another all-out breakdown. She could see this would escalate between Tian and Ling, and Kai didn’t seem to be biting as she thought he would. He seemed bored. Disconnected and more interested in staring her way. She couldn’t meet that gaze and didn’t want to.
