• “So what happens next… you serve her, and she has to make the arrangements, or do I?” Kai didn’t like the uncertainty or the vagueness.
• “We arrange it with her agreement on time and place. She can choose the hospital…..and once we confirm paternity, we apply for court-ordered access to build a relationship with your kid. We do this by the book. We follow the steps. She won’t be able to stop you from being in her life.”
• Kai rounded his shoulders and arched in his seat to try to loosen some of his body's knots and tension. It all rested on that DNA test, and he didn’t have the confidence that this would be something he wanted to know.
