• "Should I apologize for what happened?" Carlton asked Stacy after she arrived, a few hours later than her usual hours because she was called in by the hospital.
• He had observed that she didn't seem to be in a very good mood when she entered, and had been struggling to keep up with her usual collected demeanor. She was obviously bothered by something.
