- Carlton's heart had been bound by the same weariness ever since he met Stacy again, and seeing their relationship after meeting one another degraded even more by misunderstandings made him frustrated.
- As usual, sleep evaded him with anxiety nestling nonstop at the corners of his mind at night, and he faced pain that consumed him like a dark cloud and followed him relentlessly without a bright day to offer. The guilt of having to toss away the one good person he had and landing in a hot mess afterward, drowned him endlessly in a deafening silence of loneliness.
