• “I understood that you had every right to be mad at me after everything you’ve been through because of me. But I was hoping that you would eventually open up to me. And most importantly, give me the chance to explain my side of the story. I didn’t want to believe you came into my life for some sort of revenge. Though I was scared at first, but relieved when Calvin told me you were good to him and Anna.”
• Giving Kara’s hand a light squeeze, Adam spoke. “Did you ever think of contacting me again? I mean, you could have easily searched me up on the internet.”
• “Not at all. I hated you so much that even the thought of knowing where you were was not something I cared about. All I ever wished for was that you suffered just as much as I suffered. I hated you so much, Adam. And I promise you that I still do. But not as much as I did then.”
