• This little girl needs just to be grateful we are being so kind to her. A young woman in her position could have ended up in a terrible place. We will get what we want from her, but we will not hurt her. She will be set for life. All she has to do is breed a few hybrids, and she can be on her merry little way. She could have ended up in an underground auction, raped, beaten overbreed, and then tossed in a whore house. She better change her tune, or I just might drop her in the hands of a vampire that will not be as nice as I am. 
• "Tatina, you look so worried. Tell me what is going on in that pretty little head of yours," I say. I desperately am trying to sound sympathetic. It is hard when you feel like someone is so damn ungrateful. She is one of the most ungrateful hybrids I have ever had the displeasure of grooming. Why did Craig do this to me?
• "I am fine. This place just looks a little creepy. I did not see many vampires growing up even though I have vampires in my family. We mostly stayed to ourselves," she says, looking around at all of the vampires licking their lips and watching her. They want to taste her, but they would never piss off Mr. Craig.
