Chapter 6 A Mysterious Invitation
- I have a word of advice, when you run away and switch into your wolf, don't forget to bring an extra set of clothes with you.
- I am uncertain how far I ran; I know it is until I fall to the ground tired. I have switched back, and I am naked, with no clothes on. Wolves, we are used to being naked; we are naked every time we switch back from our wolves.
- I fall on the ground crying my heart out; I don't even notice the beautiful lake with the waterfalls. I have cried until I fall asleep, repeatedly I keep crying to the Moon Goddess "Why?"
- In my slumber, I smell the roses and lilacs mixed with daisies. I notice I am in a beautiful white flowing dress that billows right above my knees. I touch my head and I am wearing a crown of flowers; I twirl watching my dress twirl with me. I laugh and fall to the ground, running my fingers through the velvety grass. I wonder if I am dead, this is what I would consider paradise.
- I hear a soft voice calling my name, "Clair, my daughter. How nice of you to visit." I search for where the quiet voice is coming from, not seeing anyone until I look at the lake. Gliding across the lake towards me is the most beautiful person I have ever seen. My guess this is the Moon Goddess, and come to think of it, I have some things I want to discuss with her.
- The moon goddess sits next to me in the grass, and she is silent. I think she knows I want to talk to her. However, I am almost afraid to say anything.
- The moon goddess takes this silence as a queue to speak. "Clair. You have been whining for years about how unfair things are for you, and now you have my undivided attention, and you are silent?"
- "Why is it we have mates when we don't want one? Humans can pick out their mates and live their life as they see fit. However, we are forced upon a mate, and that mate can haul us off without the female consenting. It is like compared to humans we live in the dark ages."
- The Moon Goddess looks at me with a straight face. "Are you a human?" I shake my head no. "Then why do you compare your life with humans? Do you want to be a human? I could give your beautiful wolf to someone else."
- No offense meant moon goddess. I always love my wolf no matter how annoying she could be. However, I know my brothers sleep with enough women to fill an NFL stadium, and the way they don't care about how they hurt my mate. I don't want that nonsense. My mate is an Alpha, and I'm sure he's had enough sex with enough women to write a book on how to get a woman to agree to sex in 30 seconds or fewer."
- She shows me when I was ten years old, and I was mean to boys because of how upset I was with my brothers. They showed me the pain I caused the boys that crossed my path by the moon goddess. Although many didn't mean to irritate me, I showed no mercy to them. I even beat the victims in front of their friends. After that, they were made fun of, and one of those boys has never recovered from the teasing. There were many boys praying to the moon goddess to make me nicer.
- I saw a pack that had been seized and the children now had nothing to eat, praying to the moon goddess to provide food for them. Now let's see you pray, "Why the letter C?" Please let my brothers leave me alone. When I don't want a mate, why do I have to have one moon goddess? Surely you hate me?"
- I realize that indeed I am constantly whining over small stuff when so much big stuff is going on in the world. The moon goddess shows me the good I will do as a Luna and what will happen if I don't become a Luna.
- I see a woman die giving birth, because I am not there to save her as her Luna. I see a war that will never have started because I help to stop the war before it has time to surface.
- Last, the moon goddess shows me how much my mate will love me, and how it will break him if I reject him. She shows me how the Kingdom will fall apart, as the Alpha does not care any longer since I leave. The Luna never shows me who my mate is, but I am important in his life and in the Kingdoms in all of this.
- It isn't often I am left speechless, however; I am speechless; I am now crying not for myself but for all the wolves that are in pain, while I am thinking about what really are petty things in life. Looking at the moon goddess crying, I apologize for my selfish, spoiled ness, and promise I will be a better person.
- The moon goddess comes and gives me a hug, "Now child remember just because a person has a title, and wealth doesn't mean they are not suffering pain." I nod to the moon goddess, and she smiles at me. "Now, daughter, I am sending you back home."
- When I wake up, I am back in my bed. I swear my dream was like a remake of "It's a wonderful life"
- I wake up and see the burner phone, great I forgot to throw it away. I also see my cell phone and notice I have lots of missed messages from my brothers. Rather than calling one individually, I call in a group video chat. "Guys, I am fine, last night I ran away, you will not believe my story, but the moon goddess brought me back, and I am not crazy. I am getting ready, and I will meet you guys in the office." Not giving them a chance to lecture I hang up the cell phone.
- Next I call my tormentor, "Hey your highness, let's call it a truce. I have finished setting up the security system at the castle the other day. My accountants will send you a bill, have a nice day your highness." I hang up before he can reply.
- The burner phone rings back, and I answer, "Your highness how can I be of help?" I hear him trying to speak, he seems nervous to ask me something. I remain patient while I wait for him to speak. "Clair, in all seriousness I would be honored if I could take you out."
- Clair -
- My heart skips like 10 beats. "As much as I would like that your highness, we cannot as we both have a mate out there that loves us, regardless. Have a good day your highness."
- Xander –
- I need to see a therapist. That girl is driving me crazy. I need to go workout; I can only think about a girl I have never seen.
