• I put the whole thing about Hannah behind me and focused on healing Layla. I held onto her arms and closed my eyes as I tried to feel for whatever is wrong with her. I found it and began to take it in. I felt Freddie’s hand on my left shoulder.
• “Take it easy, Alpha, you can only do so much.”
• I wanted to listen to him, but I knew I could not stop at that point. I took it until there was nothing left to take. I fell on the cold hard floor with a loud thud but not before I saw her fingers twitch.
