Chapter 58 Different Entity

• The forest at night is a completely different kind of entity, subject to change in ways that almost feel surreal. The chirps and squeaks of bats grow louder, as if they are signalling some kind of danger. I feel a presence watching, holding its breath. And so am I.
• I stand at the northern end of the forest, my eyes fixed on the stretch of Wrenwood that bleeds into Bertha's territory. Blistering cold air cuts through my fur coat, and while my breath fogs the cold air, I barely notice.
