• “I’m sorry about the whole butler thing earlier,” I say as we approach my house. Beta Conrad and I have been walking in silence for the past few minutes, and it feels like the right time to finally apologize. I didn’t mean to offend him, but sometimes my mouth just runs on its own.
• Conrad shrugs, his eyes softening slightly. “It’s alright. I’ve been warned about you. I didn’t understand why Scott Savage brought you back here with him, knowing you were going to be trouble. But I think I get it now. You’re not the bad kind of trouble.”
