Chapter 9

  • 【Jason POV】
  • “Jason!”
  • My dad exploded with anger. “How dare you speak to your brother like that! Apologize to Mark immediately! He is the pride of the Constance family! No one insults him!”
  • “Ha ha ha!”
  • Mark suddenly laughed, slapping his thigh until tears welled in his eyes.
  • “Jason, Jason, I really didn’t expect you to say something so out of line. Who exactly do you think you’re scaring?” His face was full of contempt.
  • “You think that just because you spent a few years in prison and threw some punches, people are supposed to fear you? You’ve completely lost your damn mind!”
  • “I’ve inherited the family’s beta bloodline. I possess the fighting strength of a top-tier beta now. And you? You’re just a pathetic omega. There’s a gap between us you’ll never cross in your entire life!”
  • Then, without warning, he grabbed my neck with a sudden, hard grip.
  • “If I wanted to, I could crush you like a bug!”
  • Smack!
  • I caught his wrist mid-air with precision and steadiness. I squeezed with all my strength. Mark’s face drained of color, and his eyes widened in disbelief.
  • “You? You think you can hold me down?”
  • With one sharp move, I threw him off. “I already gave you a chance. Since you can’t appreciate it, don’t blame me the next time we meet!”
  • I turned and walked away.
  • Behind me, I faintly heard my dad’s voice: “He seems much stronger now. Could something have happened in prison that eliminated his weaknesses and restored his beta power?”
  • Mark snorted coldly. “Even if that’s true, he still can’t really threaten me. I just slipped up for a second earlier. He better not cause trouble tomorrow. Otherwise, Dad, Mom, I’ll be your only child from now on!”
  • “Jason, I woke up, but why aren’t you here? Why are you so stupid…”
  • “Jason, I miss you so much…”
  • “Jason…”
  • Under the warm yellow light, I flipped through Lucia’s letters. Hundreds of letters, each word overflowing with love.
  • Knock, knock, knock!
  • Someone knocked on the door. Lester entered.
  • “Alpha, all the evidence of Mark’s crimes has been gathered. It’s all here.”
  • He dropped a stack of files on the table. “Rex has also agreed to testify against Mark. This is enough to ruin him completely.”
  • I nodded softly. “Are the guys ready?” Tomorrow, I’m crashing the wedding. I’m not going alone.
  • Lester nodded. “Everything’s set. I’ll have all my brothers ready whenever you need them. And don’t worry—we won’t blow your cover.”
  • He hesitated for a moment, then added, “I have to admit, I’m a little concerned. Our Phantom pack isn’t as strong as the Iron Fang pack right now. Plus, a lot of Nuremberg’s elite will be attending tomorrow. I even heard that Julia, the alpha of the Storm pack, is coming…”
  • Julia, the current alpha of the Storm pack, is Helena’s sister. If Julia is coming, does that mean Helena will be there too?
  • I considered it for a moment.
  • Shaking my head, I said to Lester, “Don’t worry. I’ve got it covered.”
  • After Lester left, I pulled a booklet from the drawer, flipped through it, and found a number to call.
  • “Is this Chief Burns? This is ‘Poison,’ the one who helped you recover. I need a favor. A friend of mine, Jason… tomorrow…”
  • The person I was contacting was none other than Burns, head of the Order Committee, Nuremberg’s chief of security. He had once been poisoned by the notorious “Moon’s Lament” toxin and nearly died. I was the one who saved him.
  • When I asked for his help, he agreed without hesitation. “Don’t worry. Tell your friend Jason to do whatever he needs. With me backing him, no one will dare interfere. By the way, I have a friend suffering from old injuries—could you help him as well?”
  • After that, I made a few more calls. When I finished, I stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, looking down at the thousands of lights flickering across Nuremberg.
  • Tomorrow, I would announce my comeback to the world.
  • Lucia, I’m going to make you the happiest princess ever.
  • June 18th, Year 298 of the Vost Empire.
  • Clear skies, a light breeze, perfect temperature, and fresh air.
  • Under the full moon, the Thousand Islands Lake shimmered like a sea of diamonds. The Constance family villa was decorated with lights and grandeur.
  • High society from Nuremberg’s political, business, and social circles had gathered for a grand wedding.
  • On my way there, I observed everything through the surveillance gear my team had installed.
  • The Iron Fang pack’s priesthood leader stood solemnly by the Moon God’s stone altar, reciting the “Moon God’s Scripture” with deep reverence. Everyone listened in silence.
  • Once the other parts of the ceremony concluded, Mark and Lucia stood on either side of the high priest.
  • “Mark Constance, do you accept Lucia Fields as your mate? Will you stand by her side for life, through pain, sickness, and poverty, until death do you part?”
  • “I do!” Mark shouted loudly, his laughter filling the hall. The guests applauded.
  • The high priest then turned to ask Lucia, but she remained silent. Her eyes kept darting toward the massive iron gate of the mansion.
  • “Lucia, you’re waiting for me? I knew it! You’d wait for me!”
  • At that moment, Lester, behind the wheel, glanced back. When I nodded, he pressed the gas pedal to the floor. The engine roared as we charged forward.
  • “Boom!”
  • The massive iron gate of the Constance family mansion crashed down with a thunderous bang. The guests gasped, all eyes on the car I was in.
  • The car came to a stop in front of the red carpet. I stepped out, adjusted the fancy outfit I had chosen for Lucia, and locked eyes with her across the crowd. My gaze was full of love and devotion.
  • Amid Mark’s furious rage, my parents’ stunned silence, and the guests’ shock, I focused on Lucia—the girl I loved most, my most precious treasure. Tears sparkled in her eyes as she covered her mouth.
  • “She doesn’t want to!” I shouted, breaking the silence.
  • “Jason!”
  • Lucia’s tears fell freely. Without hesitation, she ran toward me, just as I ran toward her.
  • Right there, on the red carpet, under the moonlight and the watchful eyes of the moon goddess, we held each other tightly.
