Chapter 7
- 【Jason POV】
- I know Lucia too well. I can hear the fake words dripping from every sentence she says.
- When she tries to act cold and heartless, I can almost feel the pain tearing her up inside.
- I get it—she’s silently bearing that pain to protect me.
- Having a girl like her love me—what else could I possibly regret in this life?
- I didn’t tell her right away about the changes I’ve made. Like I said, I wanted to surprise her.
- I’m gonna give her the perfect wedding she once dreamed of.
- After leaving the bridal shop, I kept wandering around the mall, heading straight for the jewelry store.
- After checking out one place after another, I finally stopped, eyes locked on a pair of pure gold rings with flawless curves, engraved with symbols of undying love.
- That’s the one!
- “I’ll take it!”
- I told the female werewolf sales clerk behind the counter.
- “Sir, you’ve got great taste. These rings are our crown jewels. They were crafted by a pair of werewolves who defied social classes and vowed to stay together till death. Their epic love story is what these rings represent, and whoever buys them will be blessed with the same fortune… Because they’re so precious, they’re also very expensive…”
- I glanced at Lester.
- Without missing a beat, Lester stepped forward and slid a platinum card from Black Wolf Bank across the counter—the biggest bank in the Fors Empire. Only the wealthiest, most respected werewolves carry this card. It’s a status symbol.
- The sales clerk’s eyes lit up, mouth hanging open like she couldn’t believe an omega could drop this kind of cash—five years in, the Fors Empire still clings to the stereotype that omegas belong at the bottom of the social ladder.
- She swallowed hard and said with envy, “Sir, your mate must be the luckiest werewolf alive! Congratulations to her, and best wishes to you both!”
- I pocketed the rings and left the mall.
- Lester took me to our Phantom pack’s base.
- “Alpha, I had someone grab Mark’s assistant Rex’s lover. Using her as bait, we got Rex under control. Our people are interrogating him now!”
- Watching the surveillance footage, I saw one of my men torturing Rex in a dark basement.
- At first, Rex kept his mouth shut, insisting he was loyal to Mark and would never betray him.
- My subordinate didn’t waste any time and threw a stack of photos in front of me—proof of Mark secretly moving Pack assets and meeting up with multiple mistresses behind my back.
- Rex’s face went pale in an instant, his mental defenses crumbling. He spilled everything he knew like a busted dam.
- “Miss Lucia did try to reach out to Jason. She sent him letters every few days—hundreds over five years. She even tried contacting the prison to visit him, but Mark intercepted every single one…”
- “All those letters, plus the money and stuff Lucia tried to send into the prison, are with me. I’ll get someone to bring them over right away!”
- I narrowed my eyes.
- I’d suspected this, but now it was confirmed.
- Mark, you really are ruthless! You won’t visit me yourself, and you don’t even let anyone else care about me? Ha!
- “How did he control Miss Lucia? Mark used his power to pressure the Frost Moon Pack, making the whole pack suffer because of her. Then he used Jason as a threat.”
- “He kept warning Lucia that if she didn’t behave, Jason would get ‘special treatment.’ But if she played along, Jason would live comfortably—even get out early…”
- My gaze turned colder by the second.
- So this was the real reason Lucia painfully cut me off…
- Mark! Well played!
- “How did the Iron Fang Pack’s alpha’s son die? Uh, uh… I’ll tell you! Stop hitting me! It was Mark! Mark wanted to climb the ranks, so he had me arrange for gang assassins to carry out that hit…”
- “Besides that, he secretly moved a ton of Iron Fang Pack assets, bribed the elder council, and used every dirty trick to strip the alpha of his power…”
- I knew everything I needed. No point digging any deeper.
- “Get me back all those letters and stuff Lucia sent me. Keep them safe. And gather all the evidence against Mark. But don’t kill him just yet.”
- I told Lester, “I’m going home. I need to have a serious talk with my brother and my parents.”
