  • Immediately, Morvienne fell silent, her words caught in her throat. Her eyes flicked up to meet his for a brief moment, then she looked down again.
  • "I don't think I need to explain why I punished my warrior to you, Morvienne," Kael said, his voice cold and detached. "No one, absolutely no one can even think of doing what you just did, so let's make this clear. I saw a fault and I handled it exactly how I would. If there is nothing else to say, I would like to be alone."
  • Sensing the anger in his tone, Morvienne raised her head, her eyes meeting his. She felt cold just by looking at him, and it felt like she had actually made him very angry.
