Chapter 13

• The maid bolted up the stairs, her skirts fluttering with every hurried step as she herself began to panic. She nearly lost her balance but caught herself just in time, letting out a sharp intake of breath.
• "Miss Morvienne please be okay," she thought frantically. "She is so sweet, but how could one small mistake turn her into this terrified little thing? I have never seen anyone react to fear like this. What is happening?!"
• Finally, she reached the top of the stairs and braced herself against the wall to steady her breathing. She ran a hand through her hair and then knocked on Kael's door urgently.
