Chapter 13 Who Do You Think You Are?

  • Inside the villa, Maddox was lounging in the big chair. His face was sharp and chiselled, looking both tough and stern.
  • On the other side, Pearce and the Graces were huddled together. The rain was coming down hard and showed no signs of stopping.
  • Out of nowhere, headlights started cutting through the rain, and even with the storm, the roar of engines was loud and clear.
  • "The Quinns are finally here," Pearce said quietly, his face betraying a bit of nervousness.
  • Maddox stayed calm and showed no reaction.
  • Malcolm rushed into the courtyard with his team. When he saw that his son was the one in the dog cage, he was so furious that he was shaking all over.
  • "You little b*stard, how dare you do this to my son!" Malcolm yelled, his voice booming.
  • "Dad, help me! Please help me!" Victor in the cage cried out in agony.
  • Malcolm glared at Maddox and said through gritted teeth, "So, how do you want to die, kid?"
  • Suddenly, Alstair, leaning on his dragon-headed cane, stepped forward. His voice was harsh and cold as he said, "What you did to my grandson is unforgivable. It's a serious insult to my family. You're not getting off easy!"
  • Even though he was old, his voice was sharp. "I want to pull out all his teeth, rip off his nails, break his bones, and crack open his head to pour in cement. I want him to suffer more than death."
  • Malcolm added, "Exactly. We need to make this sc*m suffer a hundred times more than what Victor went through. That's the only way to make me feel better. And that's the only way he'll truly fear the Quinns and think twice before messing with us."
  • Maddox just stared at the Quinns. His eyes were full of mockery and a cold edge, like he was watching a bunch of monkeys putting on a show for themselves.
  • Pearce hesitated for a moment but then stepped forward and said, "Mr. Quinn, while Maddox's treatment of Mr. Victor is certainly wrong, there are reasons behind it. Could you show a bit of mercy and spare his life? Of course, I only ask that you don't kill him. As for how you deal with him after that, I'll leave that up to you."
  • Malcolm suddenly laughed, his laughter full of deep sarcasm and disdain.
  • Pearce frowned and said, "Malcolm, why are you laughing? Do you think the Graces have no face in Streamhaven? If the Quinns spare his life, the Graces are willing to offer compensation."
  • "Why am I laughing? I'm laughing at your stupidity!"
  • Malcolm snapped coldly. "You want me to give you face? Who do you think you are? Even now, with death staring you in the face, you still have the nerve to talk like that. I don't know where you get your courage from!"
  • Pearce's face twitched with anger. He said through clenched teeth, "Sure, your family's a big deal in Streamhaven, but my family isn't pushovers either. If this blows up, we'll both end up worse off. Are you really ready to go all out against the Graces?"
  • "Go against you? You really think that highly of yourself!" Malcolm shot back.
  • Alstair sneered and pointed at Sher. "Do you know what my grandson's status is now? Do you know who those two masters beside him are? Let me tell you, Pearce, my grandson is from the Eastwater Pavilion, and those two are stewards from Eastwater Pavilion!"
  • Malcolm added with a cold laugh, "With Eastwater Pavilion backing us up, what's the Graces even worth?"
  • Pearce's face turned pale, and he started to shake a bit. He muttered, "Eastwater Pavilion is a huge deal in Arcadia, a giant that even many of the top families in Lumoria Province have to be careful around. The Quinns actually managed to team up with them?"
  • "Pearce, you should now get just how strong the Quinns really are. Even in your sorry state, you're still thinking about saving someone?"
  • The two sides continued to argue, completely ignoring Maddox, as if he wasn't even worth considering in the eyes of the Quinns.
  • Phantom couldn't stand it any longer and said coldly, "Eastwater Pavilion? What a joke. It's just a bunch of wannabes acting like they're the big shots of Arcadia."
  • When Sher heard that, his face went dark. He pointed at Phantom and said coldly, "Who do you think you are, disrespecting and insulting Eastwater Pavilion? Just for what you've said, you've already earned yourself a death sentence!"
  • "A death sentence? You're just a tiny insect daring to talk big in front of a dragon!" Maddox said with a smirk, finally standing up.
