Chapter 2 The Useless Guy Is the Former Dragon King?

  • Maddox was so angry that he was shaking all over, his eyes bloodshot like a wild beast. Yet he held himself back and did not rush out, because he couldn't.
  • "Let it go, Maddox. We're just ordinary folks, we can't stand up to these rich and powerful young masters," Scarlett said, trying to comfort him.
  • One had to admire Scarlett's kindness, still trying to comfort others in such a situation.
  • Lila looked around and waved to send the crowd in the hall away, while silently letting out a sigh.
  • Once upon a time, Scarlett was the daughter of the wealthy Reed family in Lumoria Province. Five years ago, she insisted on being with Maddox, her so-called childhood sweetheart, and as a result, she was not only disowned by her family but had also fallen to the point of being humiliated like this today.
  • What hurt Lila the most was that Maddox, as a man, didn't even have the ability to protect his wife.
  • "I'm sorry you had to see this, Lila. We'll pay you back the 27,000 dollars. Thank you." Scarlett finally regained her composure.
  • "What are we to each other? Why are you saying this to me? It's just that you ... "
  • Lila waved her hand, hesitating for a moment, but then said, "I didn't want to bring it up, but since things have turned out this way, I have to ask, Scarlett, is it worth it to go through all this for him?"
  • Maddox, listening from the side, felt uncomfortable hearing this.
  • Scarlett, however, smiled and said, "As long as he stays by my side and doesn't leave, it's worth it."
  • "But Scarlett, you saw for yourself. He's right there next to you. Does that even help?"
  • "Okay, Lila, let's stop talking about this," Scarlett said, not wanting to hear more criticism of Maddox. After all, he was her husband.
  • "Alright, I won't say anything else, but you should know that Victor is known for being a playboy. The Quinns are powerful in Streamhaven, and I'm worried he might still have bad intentions. Be careful and stay away from the hotel for now."
  • "Got it. We'll head out now." Scarlett nodded.
  • As they left the hotel, the sky had already darkened. Maddox looked up at the sky and silently clenched his teeth, murmuring, "Just one more day, only one more day!"
  • Meanwhile, thousands of miles away in the Imperial City, the city was also covered in night. But the War Council Hall in Deepwater Bay was much busier and more tense than usual.
  • High-ranking officials, who usually only need to stomp their feet to shake the capital, were now rushing around as if there were a major issue to discuss.
  • In the top floor of the War Council Hall, eight elderly men sat upright, while other officials were seated below them, creating a very solemn atmosphere.
  • "Do you remember?" one of the elderly men said with a sigh. "When the Dragon King first rose to power, defeating countless enemies and instilling fear in kingdoms around the world? As a result, many forces joined together to pressure us, and we had no choice but to sign the Dragon Sealing Accord, sealing the Dragon King's power and hiding him away!
  • "These last five years have been the toughest for us in Aetherian Kingdom. With the Dragon King trapped and his powers sealed, we had to pull back our defenses everywhere, especially on the outer battlefields where we lost a lot of valuable resources."
  • The people in the meeting room nodded in agreement, remembering how powerful the Dragon King used to be and how glorious the Aetherian Kingdom was back then. The Dragon King was like a legend from that era.
  • But the good news was, the five-year Dragon Sealing Accord was about to end!
  • "Today's topic is figuring out how to welcome the Dragon King back. But by the way, does anyone know where he is right now?"
  • When the elder asked this, the meeting room became noisy. It turned out that no one knew where the Dragon King was.
  • "To protect him from being assassinated by other powers, we didn't keep track of his location," one elder explained. "When he left, he destroyed almost all means of contact. Now, I'm afraid no one knows where he is, and no one can reach him."
  • The elder in the centre slowly stood up and said, "Send out the Eight Great Warlords right away to find the Dragon King. We need to make sure we're ready for his return!"
  • "Yes, sir!" At that moment, everyone stood up.
  • Meanwhile, the major superpowers around the world were on edge, quietly monitoring the situation in Aetherian Kingdom. They were curious and a bit worried about what kind of impact the return of the once-great Dragon King might have.
