Chapter 18 Hot Weekend
- I woke up with the sun blazing through my bedroom window, the heat already suffocating. Rolling out of bed, I stumbled towards the kitchen, craving the icy relief of a beer from the fridge. It was going to be another scorching day in the city, and I needed something cold to kickstart my weekend.
- The fridge door squeaked open, and I grabbed a can, feeling the condensation instantly cool my fingers. As I popped it open with a satisfying hiss, I leaned against the counter, taking that first refreshing sip. The bitter taste cut through the morning haze, waking me up more effectively than any alarm.
- Glancing out the window, I could see the shimmering waves of heat rising from the pavement outside. The forecast had promised record temperatures this weekend, a heatwave baking everything in its path.
