Chapter 16 Job Interview 1

  • Sitting in the passenger seat of Angie's car, I could feel my heartbeat racing. The morning sun peeked through the windows, casting warm, comforting rays, but it did little to calm my nerves. My fingers fidgeted with the hem of my blazer, and I glanced at my reflection in the side mirror for what must have been the tenth time in the past five minutes.
  • "Lisa, you look great. Seriously, stop worrying," Angie said, her voice cheerful and reassuring as she navigated through the morning traffic. Her confidence was like a soothing balm, yet the knot in my stomach remained.
  • "Thanks, Angie. I just... I really need this job," I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper. Horizon Bank was my chance to turn things around, to finally step out of the shadow of uncertainty that had loomed over me since I was laid off three months ago.
