Chapter 10 New Money 2
- I tried a few obvious combinations—my grandparents' birthdays, my mom's birthday, even my own—but nothing worked. Frustrated, I sat back on my heels and thought hard. Then it hit me: my grandparents were always reminiscing about the year they got married, 1952. They had celebrated their golden anniversary with a big family gathering, and that year had always been special to them.
- With a deep breath, I entered 1952 into the lock. There was a click, and the lid sprang open. My heart raced as I lifted it, revealing stacks of dollar bills neatly piled inside. My jaw dropped in disbelief. I reached out, touching the money to make sure it was real. This was more cash than I had ever seen in my life.
- I couldn't believe my eyes. My grandparents had never mentioned having any significant savings, let alone a secret stash of cash hidden away. My mind raced with questions. Why had they kept this money hidden? Why hadn't they told anyone about it?
