Chapter 2 The Descent Of The Deity
- Whoa!
- This sudden turn of events immediately caught everyone's attention. While most banquet guests were familiar with the Williams family, they did not expect to see the bumbling son-in-law of the Williams family break Lucas' finger. Everyone couldn't help but shudder at Lucas' contorted face in pain.
- How painful would this be?
- They knew Lucas would not simply let this slide. Despite the crowd at the banquet hall, he felt compelled to teach this fool a harsh lesson to release his pent-up resentment.
- With all eyes on him, Lucas gritted his teeth through the pain in his finger and glared at Wallace with hostility. Yet, Wallace was oblivious, wearing a harmless smile. He was unaware of the impending threat.
- "Wallace, I think you're finished." Lucas snarled, then seized a bottle from the table and swiftly hurled it toward Wallace. Lucas would never have thought that this fool would inflict the greatest humiliation of his life.
- A steely glint flashed in Wallace's eyes as he observed the scene. As the esteemed Emperor Fender, his status was equal to that of the monarch, and no one was permitted within a five-meter radius of him.
- This action would be fatal to anyone else.
- Act first, think later. Such was the authority of the monarchy!
- "Rot in hell!" Seeing Wallace standing motionless, Lucas broke a wicked grin. As the bottle was knocked down, it would shatter Wallace's skull and make it bleed, no matter how tough it was.
- Indeed. In the next moment, his body froze, terror replacing the smirk on his face. He felt ensnared, unable to move despite his frantic efforts.
- Meanwhile, Wallace's previously lifeless gaze turned into gleaming sparkles of the stars and ocean, exuding a palpable aura of menace.
- Lucas stood rooted to the spot, transfixed, as Wallace slowly raised his head, his complexion pale.
- At that instant, Wallace emanated the presence of a primordial beast. His commanding demeanor, as though poised to assert dominion over the world, sent chills down Lucas' spine.
- Thud!
- Succumbed to his fears, Lucas' legs crumbled, and he fell onto his knees. Wallace's gaze remained impassive, gazing down at Lucas. Wallace had a robust, warrior-like aura, as though he had won countless battles. It was like the descent of the deity.
- "I, the sovereign, have traversed the lands. When have I suffered insult? Who dares affront me?"
- "I have not forgotten the kindness of the Williams family over the past six years. Yet, the humiliation lingers in my heart."
- "Do not accuse me of being cold-hearted, Wallace. Were it not for Sandra's sake, you would not have survived until today."
- Wallace's cold words rhymed in Lucas' ears. Trembling on the ground, he quivered uncontrollably, his teeth chattering.
- "W-Wallace, you are not a fool, are you?" Lucas inquired with confusion.
- Wallace's eyes narrowed. It was true. He had feigned foolishness for years. He might not have been a feared presence striking terror into adversaries worldwide.
- "Even if I am truly foolish, I am still Wallace." The name Wallace encapsulated everything. Even as a son-in-law, he harbored hidden strength like a dormant dragon.
- Boom!
- As though struck by lightning, Lucas was at a loss for words, and he gaped at Wallace.
- Unbeknownst to them, when Wallace reacted, an elderly man in a verdant robe rose from his seat at the banquet hall with a swift whoosh.
- The elderly man's gaze was fixed on Wallace, his body trembling uncontrollably. He muttered to himself, "Isn't that the legendary..."
- "What's happening here?" A commotion stirred in the crowd, and a few men approached.
- Marcus Hamilton, the manager on duty at the Silverlake Hotel, had just spoken. Behind him came a tall young man with a faint smile. Clad in a bespoke white Armani suit and a Patek Philippe watch on his wrist, he exuded wealth and nobility.
- Wallace squinted as he saw Zachary, the eldest grandson of the prominent Sandler family in Rosetown. Having returned from abroad upon completing his studies two years ago, Zachary had been captivated by Sandra's beauty. He had been behaving recklessly despite knowing she was already married.
- "Mr. Sandler." Many people greeted Zachary with respect as he arrived. However, Zachary's gaze remained fixed on Wallace with an amused expression.
- Marcus glanced at Wallace and Lucas, furrowing his brow again and inquiring, "What exactly happened?"
- Lucas quickly regained his composure, struggling to sit up and pointing at Wallace through his clenched teeth. "Mr. Sandler, it's all this fool's fault. H-he's not a fool anymore!"
- "Today is Miss Williams' birthday celebration, and I don't want anyone to spoil the party."
- Looking at Wallace, Zachary spoke softly, "If Wallace was the problem, let him apologize, and we can put this matter to rest." His voice was gentle yet filled with assertion.
- Lucas shifted his gaze at the assertive Zachary, his expression changing. Wallace had not only embarrassed himself in public but also injured Lucas' finger. A simple apology would not suffice.
- However, few in Rosetown would dare to go against Zachary. Lucas' defiant gaze met Zachary's raised eyebrow, and a hint of mockery played on his lips.
- Suddenly, Lucas froze. His status and position were nowhere near Zachary's, let alone challenging him. Moreover, the Sandlers and Williamses were in talks for a partnership, and Zachary happened to oversee the collaboration on the Sandlers' end. Lucas interacted with Zachary several times, although Zachary mostly asked one-sided questions about Sandra.
- Sandra is Wallace's wife. There is no reason for Zachary to support Wallace.
- As Lucas contemplated, his resolve faltered. Mr. Sandler clearly intended to humiliate Wallace through this apology.
- And he wanted to do it through me!
- Lucas was determined. Despite the pain in his fingers, he stared at Wallace and said firmly, "Listen up, fool. For the sake of Mr. Sandler, I will let you go if you get on your knees and apologize." As his words echoed, all eyes turned to Wallace.
- Would this foolish son-in-law of the Williams family comply?
- Wallace's mouth twitched, and he responded with a wry smile. "Do you really want me to fall on my knees?"
- "What else would I want?" Lucas sneered out of reflex. However, a recent incident flashed in his mind when he met Wallace's gaze. He couldn't help but shudder and take a few steps back.
- Once he got back on his feet, he found everyone looking at him in confusion. Lucas flushed, realizing he had been intimidated by a fool. Taking a deep breath, Lucas spoke sternly, "Get down on your knees!"
- Wallace's eyes narrowed, but then he seemed to sense something and dismissed the idea. Before he knew it, a loud and crisp rebuke rang out.
- "Lucas, who are you to ask him to kneel before you?!"
