Chapter 4 The Pointer
- After Douglas departed, the small banquet hall buzzed with chatter. Sharon was the first to express surprise. "The head of the Swift family himself has dropped by. Mom, why didn't Dad bring Austin and James along?"
- Austin remained indifferent, showing no interest in the family business. In stark contrast, James' eyes were full of eagerness as he looked at Yvonne.
- Yvonne heard Austin and slightly moved her plump body, her red lips gently parted. "Your dad is doing this for a reason."
- Although Sharon wasn't satisfied with this answer, she refrained from pressing further. Instead, she glanced at Wallace and said, "You're really a lucky star."
- "He's not only about to divorce Sandra to make way for our partnership with the Sandler family, but he has also brought the Swift family to our doorstep. It's a double blessing, indeed."
- James nodded in agreement. "If we can establish a connection with the Sandlers and the Swifts, not only will our problem be solved, but we might also even reach greater heights."
- "That's correct. Since the head of the Swift family has sought your father, an important decision has evidently been made. If your dad can seize this opportunity, he can resolve the current crisis." Yvonne then turned her gaze to Sandra and added. "As for the Sandler family, it all depends on you, Sandra."
- Everyone turned to look at Sandra. It was no secret that Zachary had always been pursuing Sandra. As for Sandra's foolish husband, no one took him seriously. Despite this revelation, Sandra remained silent, her grip tightening on the pen. Signing the divorce agreement as agreed didn't mean she'd willingly marry Zachary.
- "The head of the Swift family is here to acquire the Williams family or invest in shares. Either way, it's a timely assistance for us." James became increasingly excited, wishing he could immediately catch up with Douglas. He was more concerned about the Swift family's plans, which involved the Williams family and would significantly impact the Hutchinson family.
- While everyone was lost in their thoughts, a middle-aged man and an older man in a blue shirt sat across from each other in another small meeting room. With a square face, the middle-aged man exuded a sense of imposing pressure even when sitting quietly.
- He was Joshua, the head of the Swift family and the controller of the pharmaceutical industry in Rosetown. Sensing Joshua's worry, the older man in the blue shirt sipped tea and smiled gently. "Be patient, Mr. Swift. Have faith in me."
- Upon hearing this, Joshua raised his eyebrows and said in a deep voice, "Mr. Spencer, are you really at your wit's end to cure my daughter's illness?" Martin Spencer studied medicine for over forty years and was a prominent figure in the Danton medical community. Joshua had to exert a lot of effort to invite him to Rosetown.
- Martin shook his head and sighed. "Your daughter is suffering from a rare condition, and I regret to say that I cannot help." Joshua's expression changed, and he pleaded with Martin with his eyes.
- "Mr. Swift, you don't have to beg me. Just use the finger technique instead of needles devised by that young man. Your daughter will be safe in his hands," Martin reassured.
- The finger technique, only recorded in ancient texts, was something even a renowned physician like Martin had never learned. However, he did not anticipate that his visit to Rosetown was merely a whim to see the descendant of an old friend from the Williams family. He accidentally witnessed Wallace using a technique to immobilize Lucas.
- Joshua was about to speak but saw Martin stand up and say, "Alright, Mr. Swift, I have important matters to attend to and must leave Rosetown at once. I would otherwise love to meet the son-in-law of the Williams family."
- After taking a bow, Martin left the meeting room. Just as he had gone for less than two minutes, Douglas arrived at the meeting room with Frankie leading the way.
- "Haha! Mr. Swift, I did not expect your arrival. It's a great honor…" Douglas warmly greeted Joshua upon his entrance. Before he could finish speaking, however, he noticed Joshua's paled complexion. His heart skipped a beat, and he asked tentatively, "Mr. Williams, are you alright?"
- Joshua wasted no time with Douglas, either. He said in a deep voice, "Mr. Williams, I'll cut to the chase with you. I came here today to seek help from your son-in-law. Don't worry. Whether your son-in-law can help with this matter will not affect the Swift family's partnership with the Williams family and help you through this difficult time."
- Initially, Joshua paid little attention to the third-tier Williams family. There were so many powerful pharmaceutical companies in Rosetown, much stronger than the Williams family, so he had no reason to help. However, now that Martin said that Douglas' son-in-law could cure his daughter's illness, he had to try it.
- Douglas' heart sank as Joshua uttered the first sentence. When he heard the following sentence, he felt a surge of energy. Although he didn't understand the help Joshua needed from his son-in-law, he had to seize the opportunity in sight.
- "Okay, Mr. Swift. My son-in-law happens to be in the pharmaceutical industry as well. Please wait a moment; I will call him over immediately," Douglas said as he left.
- "Sandra, why haven't you got Wallace to sign yet?" James asked Sandra about the progress of the divorce in the small banquet hall. His little sister-in-law was simply a beauty, far superior to Sharon. Unfortunately, Wallace, the fool, no longer has the chance to admire her beauty.
- Sandra frowned slightly and broke the pen she had held tightly with a snap. Surprised, Wallace looked at Sandra, and there was a ripple in his usually quiet heart.
- At that moment, the banquet hall doors were forcefully pushed open. Douglas walked in quickly and smiled at James, saying, "James, come on. Mr. Swift is looking for your help. Come with me."
- "What?!" James exclaimed in disbelief, his excitement palpable.
- "Why are you still standing there? Hurry up." Sharon was also excited and nudged James like a pie had fallen from the sky. James tried to calm himself down and followed Douglas on his way out.
- "James is quite capable. Even Mr. Swift is asking for his help." Austin exclaimed in surprise.
- "I didn't see it coming, either." Sharon giggled. "I guess he has made some achievements lately and caught Mr. Swift's attention, haha."
- "With James' help, it seems like the Williams family is saved." Yvonne's face also showed a hint of hope. Soon, Douglas led James into Joshua's conference room.
- "Mr. Swift, meet James, my nephew."
- Joshua looked up. James was excited, bowing repeatedly and saying, "Hello, Mr. Swift!"
- Joshua was taken aback. He looked at Douglas and frowned, "I didn't ask for him."
- Err. Both James and Douglas' faces froze at the same time. "Mr. Williams, is he your only son-in-law?" Joshua asked.
- "Well, there is another one. P-Please wait a moment." After exchanging a glance with James, Douglas came to his senses and quickly walked back with him.
- "Has it been settled so quickly?" Sharon was still praising James in the banquet hall, but she saw the two individuals returning before she could finish.
- James looked at Wallace and asked Douglas, "Dad, are you really going to take him over there?"
- Huh? What's happening?
- Everyone looked puzzled at Douglas, who was also confused. He only had two sons-in-law; if it was not Wallace, then it was James.
- Could Joshua have mistaken the person? If so, the Swift family's reputation would be at stake.
- Just as Douglas debated whether to take his soon-to-be-divorced son-in-law to Joshua, footsteps were suddenly heard at the door. Then, Joshua's voice was heard, "Excuse me, who is Wallace Fender, as in Mr. Fender?"
