Chapter 13 Don't Worry, You Have Me

  • "No!" Sandra and Austin tried to stop him, but it was too late.
  • With a heavy thud, Zachary was sent crashing into the car again after just standing up. His head tilted to the side as he fainted on the spot.
  • Oh My God! Sandra and Austin were left in shock.
  • Wallace was bullied for six years after joining the Williams family. He was usually subdued. So, they didn't expect him to be so strong to knock Zachary unconscious with a single kick. The siblings trembled in unison as Zachary passed out. That must be a hard blow.
  • However, they knew it was not the time to dwell on that. The next moment, Sandra grabbed Wallace, who was about to kick again, and urgently ordered, "Stop kicking and get in the car."
  • And he obediently got in the car.
  • Five minutes later, Wallace realized they weren't heading home and asked, "Sandra, where are we going?"
  • "Of course, to send you out of Rosetown," Austin replied in annoyance.
  • "That's right. I'll send you to the port now. Then, find a small boat to take you to a nearby city," Sandra explained seriously.
  • However, Wallace's brows furrowed as he asked, "What'll happen to you two if I leave? What about the Williams family?"
  • Austin was stunned and almost laughed in disbelief. He then looked at Wallace in disdain and scoffed, "Do you think staying here will make things seem like it's never happened?
  • "Wallace, can you stop creating more trouble for us? Do you think you can still stay in Rosetown after hitting Zachary?
  • "Let me tell you. You've crossed the whole Sandler family. If we don't send you away now, it'll be too late for you to leave later."
  • Even Austin hadn't realized that he had changed his attitude toward Wallace after hearing Wallace's words when Zachary was pressuring Sandra. At least he wanted to ensure Wallace left safely, just like Sandra. After all, Wallace had stood up against Zachary for Sandra's sake despite everything.
  • "Stop the car." Wallace's expression turned serious as he ordered.
  • "Can you just stop? Zachary won't let you off the hook," Sandra warned.
  • "Do you think they dare to storm the Williams family?" Wallace mocked, "I can't leave until the divorce papers are signed tomorrow. But now, you're still my wife, and Austin is still my brother-in-law. I won't leave you both."
  • Sandra and Austin were both speechless. In the end, Austin was still confused and questioned, "Wallace, what's with you tonight? You don't seem foolish at all. You look more like a madman now."
  • "You can't return to the Williams family," Sandra stated sternly. "Zachary will stop at nothing to take revenge against you if what happened tonight gets out, given his status. Even the Williams family won't be able to protect you."
  • "Don't worry. No one will find out." Wallace flashed her a small smile. "Being knocked out in public is embarrassing. Zachary won't tell anyone."
  • "How can you be so sure?" Austin asked skeptically.
  • "If you were him, would you tell anyone about this?" Wallace simply retorted.
  • "Of course not." Austin glared at him.
  • "There's your answer." Wallace continued, "There are no witnesses or surveillance cameras where we were just now. Zachary won't say anything as long as we don't say anything, either.
  • "Even if he wants revenge, it'll be discreet. So don't worry."
  • Sandra's mouth twitched. Gosh, is that what I'm worried about?
  • "Let's go home," Wallace said before chuckling at Austin. "Besides, Austin was the one who started it. I can't just stand by and watch Zachary beat him up, can I?
  • Boom!
  • The siblings finally recalled the incident upon hearing this. That's right. Austin made the first move. Zachary wouldn't only take revenge on Wallace.
  • The more they pondered, the more afraid Austin became. The color drained from his face as he whispered, "Sandra, what should we do? Dad will beat me up when he finds out."
  • But Sandra didn't respond. Instead, she gave Wallace a deep look. For the first time in six years, she found herself unable to comprehend this man.
  • At that moment, Wallace was still calm, as if he wasn't worried about Zachary's potential revenge.
  • Does he have some sort of deal with Joshua? So he knows the Swift family can help him go against the Sandler family. Is that why he's so fearless?
  • "Sandra..." Austin was almost in tears at her silence.
  • But she answered him before he could finish his sentence. "What're you afraid of? Didn't Wallace just say he would help you?"
  • "I..." Austin was exasperated. He wouldn't be so worried if Wallace was competent. What was even more frustrating was that he wasn't planning on hitting Zachary at all. He didn't know what had come over him.
  • Meanwhile, Wallace found this scene amusing. Before this, he didn't want to reveal too much. That was why he secretly helped Austin.
  • After that, the trio returned to the William Residence, and Austin couldn't hold back and told Douglas what had happened.
  • Half an hour later, Douglas rushed back with the rest of the family. "What happened, Austin? Why did you hit Mr. Sandler? Was it to save Wallace?" Douglas frowned as soon as he entered the door and looked at Austin in the living room.
  • Sharon also asked with a frown. "Austin, what were you thinking? Don't you know Wallace has already caused enough trouble for our family?"
  • Then Sandra quickly explained at their interrogation, "Dad, Sharon, it's not Austin's fault. He hit Zachary to save me."
  • She proceeded to recount the entire incident in detail. Everyone looked solemn after hearing the story.
  • "Sandy, I know you're trying to speak up for Austin, but the story is too far-fetched," James interjected. "I heard Zachary brought many bodyguards from his family to capture Wallace. Why is Wallace unharmed?"
  • "Sandra didn't lie. That's the truth." Austin rose to his feet in defense as everyone else was blaming him.
  • However, no one believed him.
  • Ultimately, Douglas interrupted. His expression darkened as he glared angrily at Austin, "You unfilial child, not only do you not help with the family business, but you've also created such a big mess now. Come and receive your punishment."
  • Although Austin has mentally prepared himself, his legs still went weak upon hearing this. He then looked at Yvonne in desperation and pleaded, "Mom..."
  • Usually, he would be saved if he asked Yvonne for help. After all, he was the only son in Douglas' lineage. If anything were to happen to him, their lineage would end.
  • But to his dismay, Yvonne merely glanced at him and fetched a stick herself, stating, "Austin, you're a grown-up now. You have to accept your punishment when you make a mistake."
  • Then she handed the stick to Douglas.
  • And Austin broke out in cold sweat as Douglas was about to punish him. At that stage, he could only admit his mistakes to reduce his punishment.
  • "Dad, I know I was wrong!" Austin exclaimed before kneeling.
  • Just as Douglas prepared to use the stick, Wallace, who had remained silent throughout, suddenly stepped forward. "Wait."
