Chapter 6 A call

  • Beatrix’s POV
  • After work I went home. I went in and saw Zach still awake while watching tv. I approached him and kissed him on the cheek.
  • "Zach, why are you still awake?"
  • He looked at me and smiled at me, “I'm waiting for you. How's work?" I sat down next to him. He was sitting on the sofa while his wheelchair was on the side.
  • "It's okay…"
  • "It's okay, what?"
  • I sighed before deciding to say, "Giovanni is my boss." I saw how shocked he was before he finally spoke.
  • “What’s the problem there? Is he bothering you? ”
  • "Of course not."
  • "Bea, just tell him how you are and I know Van will help you instead of staying in that mansion." I held his hand. I know he’s just worried but I’m still lacking in what Zach did for us.
  • “Zach, it's not possible. He is not my friend to focus my attention on. I can do this. Your foot is about to be operated on. I'm sorry if it's because of me that you're like that. ” Every time I remember what happened I can’t help but cry. If it weren’t for me Zach would still be free, he can still do what he wants. He would still be happy with his family. The family would not have rejected him because of me. He may have found the right lady for him.
  • “Bea, how many times can I tell you that you are innocent. I chose this so don’t worry about me. You and Gia are what I care about. Bea, quit now, ” he said. I just cried and hugged him and he did the same.
  • “I-I don’t know how to leave, Zach. That… is the source of our daily needs. Mommy still owes a lot. There is also…a contract.”
  • "Calm down, I won't leave you." I broke away from the hug as he wiped away my tears, "you're still ugly when crying." I just laughed because of what he said. That’s what he always told me back then whenever he saw me crying.
  • “Sorry for everything. I'm sorry. ”
  • He smiled, “it’s okay. We better sleep now or else we'll be late for tomorrow. ” I nodded to him before helping him into the wheelchair. I pushed it towards his room which was just downstairs. Here he is at the bottom while me and Gia are at the top. I told him that he was upstairs to watch over me and that I would help him when he needed something but he insisted that he be there in the room downstairs. I rented this house but then Jane insisted on paying this house and even suggested to me that we should move out but I don’t want to owe anyone so in the end she just bought this instead of buying another big house for us. In addition to this, Levi hired a yaya for Gia. I told him that there is no need to do that and I don’t want to owe them a lot because I still don’t have enough money but he said that I am not the one who will pay him and in the end he won. That’s the reason why Ms. Adele is here to care for Gia.
  • I stayed a few more minutes there in Zach's room before going upstairs to peek at Gia, our son. When he filed the divorce papers I asked him to hopefully even for the last time we would do what the couple was doing. We do that but I know he is just forced but sometimes he is still drunk so despite my sadness that night I also felt that even once he was able to make me feel like he was my husband and I am his wife until the last time. Four months ago when I found out I was pregnant and at the same time Mommy committed suicide.
  • I smiled to see my daughter’s gentle face. My daughter is almost three years old so I want her to have something ready even if she is not that pompous.
  • “I love you so much, my child. Mama's love for you is equal to my love for your Dad then. ” I kissed her on the forehead before I leaned over her and hugged her.
  • The next day I woke up because of the sound I heard from outside my room. I got up before stretching my body.
  • “Bea, hija. Are you awake yet? ” I heard that voice of Miss Adele. I looked to the side of the bed and saw that Gia was no longer there. That must have gone to Zach.
  • "I'm awake."
  • "Zach is calling you."
  • I made the bed, "I'll be next." After arranging our bed, I got dressed before leaving the room to go to the bathroom.
  • As I descended I saw Zach and Gia playing with the offender. I could see how Zach rejoiced as he saw my daughter’s pursed lips. If I could only teach the heart, I would have loved Zach for a long time but I couldn’t. I love him but only as a friend and like a real brother. Ever since Gio left me, Zach has been by my side. He didn’t leave me until mommy died. He also admitted to me that he loves me but I told him that I still love Gio. I told myself I would try but years later it came back to the real owner. I am glad that Gia is having strength and she didn’t feel sick again.
  • “Bea, come here. Earlier, your cell phone was ringing that you left here last night. I answered and I knew it was Van who had called. He seems to be angry, very angry.”
  • “Huh? Work? I don't go to work. ” I hurried to their place and picked up my cellphone on Zach. I looked at that and saw a lot of missed calls. “Why did he call? This day is my rest day. ” As far as I know, I said goodbye to our manager and she agreed. I want to take them for a walk, Zach, because it's Zach's birthday today. At least I could visit him because I still don't have enough money to buy something ready. The money I saved can't be used because it’s for his operation so that Zach can experience walking again.
  • "Call him."
  • Zach commanded me but I shook my head. Zach is such a good man. He is very considerate about my feelings. He told me that he still loves me until now but he said he would not force me because he knows who the person I love is. I knew he was hurting so I did everything just to recover and now that idiot is calling me.
  • I put the cellphone aside, "Have you eaten yet?"
  • “Yes, you must eat too. I will take care of Gia. ” I looked at my daughter who was just staring at Zach and me as if trying to understand what we were talking about. Even though she is more than two years old, she still has something she doesn't understand, especially when it comes to adults.
  • "Morning, mama." I kiss the cheek of my daughter and carry her.
  • “Morning too, baby. Did you have fun with Dada? ” I looked at Zach who was smiling at us, "maybe you’re teaching her some bad thing." He just shook his head while smiling.
  • "Of course not. I'm a good boy. ”
  • I looked at Gia, "Is that true baby?"
  • “Yes, mama. Dada accompanied me to play and he said to me that evil witches are always a bad so that's why I should not come with them. He also said that when I saw a man who let you cry, I should punch them like this. ” We laughed as it blew into the air. I glared at Zach before slapping him on the arm. It's funny that Gia spoke directly. She does not stutter and is very talkative at times. I hope Gia will recover from her illness.
  • “Ouch, it hurts. Look baby G. Mama hurt Dada. ” I raised an eyebrow at him but he just looked at Gia who was already looking at me.
  • “Mama, that’s bad. Does it mean that you're a witch? ” My daughter’s innocent question made Zach laugh.
  • "Zacharie!"
  • "Your face is funny haha, right baby G?" My daughter was tricked so she nodded and my nose smoked but Zach just laughed and Gia really went along even though she didn't know what this man was laughing at. They just stopped laughing when we heard the cell phone ring. "Answer it." I just nodded before going out to pick up the signal.
  • "Hello." How could he have known my number? I don't tell him my cell phone number.
  • “Where the fuck are you ?!” I pulled the cellphone away from my ear when I heard his loud shout across the line. I saw that Zach looked at it but I just smiled at him so he also smiled before looking at Gia again.
  • "Who's this?"
