Chapter 26 Shadows Of The Future

• The morning sent sunbeams that came filtering through the tops of the trees of the Wildwood Forest into the ground, darting and dancing in a million different patterns. The pack was astir with focused activity, preparing for some event that was both symbolic and crucial in its own right. It had been many months since the fight against the Shadowfang Pack, and though the Wildwood and Redclaw packs had formed stronger ties, there was much that still needed doing. Today they were on their way to partake in a ceremony that would see them definitely joined together, put all old ways behind them, and herald in a brand new way of doing things.
• Iris walked around the camp, her eyes scanning the preparations being put in place. The ceremonial grounds were decked with banners and symbols of unity. Members of the pack worked hard, placing out decorations and setting up elements needed for the event. The atmosphere was one of anticipation and excitement, for everybody wanting to celebrate hard-won peace and the strength of their alliance.
• Erin met Iris with a proud and pretty determined expression. "It's coming together right, with all that commotion," he told her. "Today will be a big day for our pack and the Redclaws."
