Chapter 16 Destined For Extraordinary

  • “Boss, isn't this a little too harsh?”
  • Freddie kept looking at Eleanor, who was at the back, through the rearview mirror. Her complexion looked pale. This couple is
  • “Am I? I want to trigger the potential in her. Trust me, one day, the name 'Eleanor Cabot' will be carved on the top of the business industry in Chanaea one day. Once her potential is revealed, everyone in this world will pale in comparison. My woman is destined for extraordinary!”
  • “I cannot imagine how much she hates you right now,” said Freddie.
  • Emmanuel was rendered speechless for a long time after hearing that.
  • When Freddie noticed the change in Emmanuel's emotion, he quickly added, “I'm sure she'll be moved if she learns that you've done this for her sake in the future. This moment will certainly make a good tale to talk about when you two grow old and gray.”
  • “I won't ask for her to forgive me,” Emmanuel muttered. “When her future is brighter than the sun, I'll be proud of her. When she has fallen from grace, I'll open up a path and guide her out of the depths.”
  • After returning to the office, Eleanor instantly called Southspell Corporation's purchasing manager, for the purchasing department was in charge of all the beauty salon's mask demands.
  • Therefore, if they wanted to work with Southspell Corporation, they would have to go through the purchasing manager first.
  • Eleanor had already contacted the purchasing manager for an appointment the day before.
  • However, as the manager was not free at that time, she contacted him again the next day.
  • It was then she found out that the manager had some spare time in the evening. They then agreed to meet for negotiation at six in a café below Southspell Corporation's office.
  • An intern, Tiffany Minogue, sat at the side and looked at Eleanor. “You're amazing, Ms. Cabot, to have gotten an appointment with Southspell Corporation's purchasing manager so quickly.”
  • Eleanor softly chuckled. As she prepared the documents she needed for the night, she said, “You should do your best too.”
  • “Of course I have to,” Tiffany muttered in exhaustion. “It's hard to be a salesperson; it's hard to deal with the clients. It doesn't help that I'm not good with my words. I've been interning for two months, but I've only done five thousand in sales. If I don't get a big deal soon, I'm going to starve to death.”
  • “Good luck,” Eleanor said to her. She was quite fond of the intern.
  • Tiffany, who had come from a farming village, was sweet and innocent. It wasn't difficult to get along with someone as down-to-earth as her.
  • To put it simply, out of close to a hundred staff members in the sales department, Eleanor was only close to Tiffany. Her other coworkers were, at most, associates with her.
  • Right then, Sophie walked past Eleanor with a cup of coffee in her hand. When she heard that Eleanor had secured an appointment with Southspell Corporation's purchasing manager, she panicked and hastily went to her uncle for help.
  • “Uncle Shane, Eleanor has already gotten an appointment with the purchasing manager. What do we do now?”
  • “Why are you panicking? I'll make a call and get an appointment for you.”
  • Shane Burgess had been working for many years in the industry and had a wide social network.
  • With just one call, he received an appointment with the purchasing manager.
  • Once Sophie found out about that, she deliberately made a call to Southspell Corporation's purchasing manager right in front of Eleanor.
  • “Yes, of course, Mr. Hamilton. Let's meet tonight.”
  • Eleanor furrowed her brows when she heard that. Before she could contact Southspell Corporation's purchasing manager, the man called her.
  • “Ms. Cabot, I'm really sorry, but I have an appointment with an important client tonight. Why don't we reschedule our appointment?”
  • Before Eleanor could say anything, the man ended the call.
  • Eleanor tightened her grip on her phone. For a long time, she maintained the same posture as she gloomily stared at Sophie.
  • If no one was around her, she would have fought Sophie right there and then.
  • How can she be so cruel? I've already secured an appointment with him, but she stole it from me!
  • Eleanor sighed. Alas, she has a strong network.
  • Eleanor knew that Sophie's uncle was the director of the sales department, so he was bound to have a large social network.
  • It would a piece of cake for him to snatch a client from her.
  • All of a sudden, alarm bells began going off in Eleanor's head. Am I being delusional to compete with Sophie in sealing the deal with Southspell Corporation?
  • Although she did not manage to meet Southspell Corporation's purchasing manager at night, Eleanor spent the entire afternoon finding another client—the purchasing manager of a large beauty salon.
  • The manager's name was Jerry Walker, and he was a polite man.
  • Not only did he agree to meet with Eleanor, but he even suggested the place to meet—a restaurant in the suburbs.
  • At seven in the evening, Eleanor and Jerry went to a farmstay to meet.
  • The two of them talked about the collaboration in a small private room.
  • Jerry was dressed like a stereotypical scholar with a branded suit and a pair of glasses which made him appear rather cultured.
  • However, if anyone paid close attention to the scene, they would realize that his eyes kept flitting toward Eleanor's chest.
  • Lust was in his eyes, and evidently, he was interested in Eleanor's body.
  • With a smile, Jerry said, “Ms. Cabot, I'll be frank with you. It's true that our beauty salon requires a large batch of masks—around half a million worth—right now.”
  • “Really?” Eleanor asked, pleasantly surprised.
  • Initially, Eleanor thought that the beauty salon that Jerry was in charge of would only need tens of thousands worth of masks.
  • Half a million was an amount she never thought she would hear from him.
  • “Mr. Walker, what a coincidence! Bellridge Group currently has a batch of masks on sale. Since we're having a meal together, it means you're interested in our company. I look forward to our collaboration! I've brought the contract—”
  • Before Eleanor could finish her sentence, Jerry waved his hands dismissively.
  • “Shall we drink first? Let's talk about work another time.”
  • “Mr. Walker, my apologies. I can't drink.”
  • “What kind of business talk were you planning to have if you can't drink?” Jerry grumbled. “Forget it. I'll get someone else for this deal.”
  • “No, no! I'll drink!” Eleanor panicked and quickly lifted her glass, downing the white wine.
  • “Hahaha! You're a straightforward person! I like talking to people like you.”
  • A look of slyness emerged in Jerry's eyes, and he promptly filled Eleanor's glass again before convincing her to have another glass.
  • “Ms. Cabot, good things come in two. Let me toast to you.”
  • “Sure, sure,” Eleanor muttered. After a moment of hesitation, she downed the second glass.
  • By the time she downed two glasses of wine, her face was red. Even a blush had appeared on her fair neck, accentuating her beauty.
  • The sight of that made Jerry breathe even more rapidly. He reached out to put his hand on Eleanor's shoulder.
  • “Ms. Cabot, to be honest, half a million worth of masks isn't all our beauty salon needs. If things go well, I can even offer you a two million deal at most.”
  • “Really?” Eleanor instinctively moved away from the man and pushed his hand away.
  • “Of course.” Jerry grinned lecherously. “I'll sign a two million deal with you tomorrow, but Ms. Cabot, don't you think that you need to offer up something in return? I have exquisite red wine at home, so why don't we head there for a drink?”
  • Right as he said that, a loud noise sounded out as the door to the private room was nearly torn off its hinges. In the next second, an expressionless Emmanuel appeared by the doorway.
