• Grabbing the beast core, Maverick didn’t hesitate to absorb it. He knew time was of the essence. In his current weakened state, any beast daring to stride into Sabertooth territory had to be either incredibly powerful or at least on equal footing with the apex predator. If such a creature stumbled upon him in such a frail and vulnerable state, it would snap him in half and devour him in one bite without hesitation.
• Giving a swift mental command to his biolens, Maverick initiated the absorption process. His eyes fixed on his palm as faint energy began to seep from the beast core, flowing into him. Slowly, the vibrant hues of the core dimmed, its once radiant luster fading entirely. Within seconds, Maverick had drawn out all the energy it held.
• A chilling sensation coursed through his arm, spreading from his palm to his chest, then directly to his heart, before dispersing into his limbs. The pain in his body dulled, replaced by a cool, soothing comfort. Unable to suppress the reaction, Maverick let out a low, involuntary moan as his battered frame relaxed. The agonizing aches that had gripped him moments ago felt like nothing more than a distant memory or an illusion.
