Chapter 3 Rebirth
- Chapter 3
- "You're my reincarnation and you're unlike me! I detest weak girls, how could you be reborn as me?" the voice uttered in a distasteful tone.
- Precious's body shook as if it was trampled upon by a moving train. Hot tears cascaded down her delicate cheeks, as she struggled for words.
- "I'm sorry."
- "Sorry?" the voice growled and then burst into a peal of sardonic laughter which caused a thunderstorm. "I'm a cruel creature who doesn't accept sorry."
- "Zhou Zhoa, she's just a girl you can't turn her into a monster. Just give her the jade ring and bestow your good side, skills, and abilities on her." A calming and feminine voice sounded from behind the orbs even though the speaker was invisible.
- A looming silence piercing through the air and the trio caused tensions and suspense.
- The thick silence was suddenly cut through by a deep growl. "I want to be reborn as a villain this time and not as a heroine or a weak crybaby."
- "Zhou Lao, you can't be reborn as a monster without her will."
- "I can!" the voice hissed swiftly.
- "That's only if her mind is evil, and when next she dies, she will only turn to an evil spirit. She won't have the opportunity of going to the afterlife!" the soothing voice caveated. "And you'll be punished for three thousand years before you'll see a body to be reborn into."
- A hissing sounds better than its hoarse voice. "I can't be reborn as a weakling!"
- "But you can choose to save the world. Your passion has always been about saving, healing, making money, and being a powerful ruler who no one can ever challenge."
- "But I died in the hands of the person I love and give my everything to," the once roaring voice lulled into a compassionate tone. "This time I'm going to kill the man."
- "No don't!" the other voice rang with command. "This time why don't you make the man crawl to you, beg, and yearn for your attention? Why don't you turn him into a puppet? Why don't you become a world-renowned physician? The top embroidery artist? The top business owner? The benevolent yet fierce royal empress that you've always been?"
- A dead silence persisted in the air and after a while the once tense air became denser, with Precious's eyes fluttering open, and a blinding light striking into it.
- She yelped, and finally got the freedom to shut her eyes, when she opened her eyes, she met herself at the restaurant awaiting the presence of the private investigator.
- 'Hell no! She's just being reborn a few hours before her death.'
- She sighed a pathetic sigh and still felt some pain in her chest.
- She winced, clutching her hands tightly then her thoughts of the train were distracted by the sudden talk from the PI.
- "Hi," the private investigator waved her hands before precious to warrant her attention cause she was still in delirium, her heart beating.
- This was the first thing the PI had said before she was reborn and now she just doesn't have enough time on her watch.
- "Hello..." their previous voice wavered as she spoke.
- The private investigator bites on her lower lips, "I'm sorry my work took so long to be compiled, but I wanted to gather much evidence for my suspicions. The truth is that I've long found out about your husband's..."
- At these words, Precious hurriedly cleared her throat and then said, "You know what?" she pursed her lips as she looked into the PI's eyes. "I don't need all this evidence anymore for now. You might keep them."
- The PI looking shocked, inquired. "But why, if I may ask Mrs. Spencer?"
- Precious swallowed a lump and then answered, "Because he ain't worth spying on. I will just mind my business and return home to my kid. He could stay for long with Lucia, you know?"
- The PI chuckled, her gaze straining. "You already knew your husband was cheating on you with Lucia?"
- Precious paused for a while then answered. "Yes!" she continued. "Thank you so much, I will send the remaining balance to you once I get home."
- Precious pushed herself from the chair then headed to her car, yanked the door open, and slipped in.
- She sniffled and then banged her delicate hands on the steering. "So this car, phone, and shoes don't belong to me?" she wept incessantly, her heart heavy with pain.
- She gave her everything to him, all her years, all her life.
- "I thought you were working? You should your monthly earnings to sort bills, and care for your kid, okay? I'm in bankruptcy and I'm still paying off debts."
- She could remember Fredrick telling her he was in bankruptcy, yet the least out of his business made at least $20000 a day.
- "Take you on a vacation? You are a housewife, why seeking a vacation? Why don't you just stay home to care for your child!"
- He told her that yet had taken Lucia to Maldive for a vacation. On the other hand, Lucia spammed her with pictures from her vacations in the Maldives.
- 'Fuck!'
- She doesn't any have savings that could sustain her should she leave the marriage, cause she uses all her salary to keep the household going, while Fredrick spends his money on Lucia and investments.
- She felt bereft and desolate, her mind was languid, with no hope at the moment.
- She drew in a deep breath, igniting the keys in the engine, and watched as it roared back to life.
- She swiveled her hands and drove onto the busy road, heading home but suddenly stopped the car on the highway on the city's biggest and tallest bridge.
- She climbed on top of the bridge, motionless for a while then screamed into the air.
- "Men are scum! Men are scumbags! There's nothing like trust or a best friend! They sucked."
- She thinned her lips, stepping down before walking towards her booth.
- In a single push, the booth pushed open exposing a seven-year-old girl.
- Melissa? That was her daughter, who was suffering from cerebral palsy.
- "How did you get in here?" precious asked with the hinge of anger and displeasure In her tone on the child.
- The little child cowered in fear, hiding her face. Precious bites on her lower lips and then realizes she is being hard on the little girl.
- "I'm sorry," Precious apologized in a tearful tone, sniffling each time to clear her nose.
- Life has been so hard on her that she had to birth to a child suffering from cerebral palsy.
- She took the child into the car in the backseat before returning to the driver seat.
- Once she got home, Precious paced around the room and then breathed in, taking her phone.
- She dialed his number, but it rang countless time unanswered.
- With trembling hands, precious scribbled on the screen of her phone.
- "Let divorce."
