Chapter 4 Four

  • Salome's mouth opened ajar, she couldn't believe what was happening. "Cullan!" She called, not wanting to believe what he just said.
  • The entire crowds of people were equality surprised as well. How could he just cancel the wedding that lots of people had anticipated for many months.
  • "Well, since the wedding is cancelled, I'll take my leave." Octavia said. She had never felt so satisfied. Salome was feeling so embarrassed that if the ground were to open, she will dive right in.
  • So many eyes on her, she didn't know whether to cry or to die. Today was supposed to be one of her happiest days on earth.
  • Octavia secretly winked mischievously at Salome then turned away from the couple, she then begin to make her way out. As she walked out, she heard many of the attendants rumoring about the level of disgrace Salome was facing at the moment.
  • "It's what you get when you fuck someone else's husband." Octavia mumbled as she approached the car.
  • Once the car begins to moves, she began to wonder why Cullan would cancel the wedding. He better not thinks cancelling the wedding would mean she was going to come back to him. As much as she was pleased the wedding got cancelled and that bitch, Salome got publicly disgraced. She hasn't forgiven Cullan yet.
  • They dated for four good years and in all those times, she was nothing but loving and faithful to him.
  • Once the car parked before her apartment, she stepped down and watched the company's car drove away. About to turn to walk inside her apartment, another car drove in.
  • She paused and waited to see who was inside. When Cullan stepped out, still dressed in his wedding suit and looking all handsome. He approached her with a calm look and said to her, "I forgive you, Octavia."
  • "Excuse me?" Octavia exclaimed.
  • "Octavia, you immediately went to lay with a random stranger after you saw me and Salome in the room on that day. You didn't even wait to hear my own side of the story. Do you really think I'll cheat on you?" He asked. There was a bit of distance between both adults.
  • Octavia scoffed in anger, "I should ask a married man in an hotel room what's he's doing there with a woman, you claimed is your cousin?" She snickered, "wow."
  • He moved closer, his shoe was looking everly shiny and polished, the more he moves closer to her, the more his scent blessed her nose. He still had that sweet and loving smell. Octavia shut her eyes for a while before opening it, feeling a little bit overwhelmed with his presence.
  • It's being six years, has she not gotten over him? Why was she noticing the good things about him? She questioned herself.
  • "I didn't have sex with her then. Up until this moment, I promise I haven't laid with her." He said with a broken voice. "Octavia..."he called sweetly. Made Octavia remembered how he used to call her when they were married.
  • "I don't care if you lay with her or not. I don't..."her voice went lower, "I don't love you anymore." She couldn't look at his face when she said this.
  • She was now feeling slightly guilty, should she have heard from him after catching with his cousin at the hotel? Did she act too irrational?
  • "I put my reputation on the line cause of you. I cancelled the wedding and dissapointed friends and families all because of you."
  • "But I didn't ask you to." Octavia raised her gaze up and looked directly at him.
  • "You didn't." He took one more step closer to her. "But I did what was right. We are made for each other, sweetheart."
  • "I'm not your sweetheart." Octavia said. "I think you should leave now."
  • Cullan stared at her silently for another five seconds, then he said, "my heart hurts!"
  • "It was just a set up." He began. "Salome had invited me to the hotel for a business talk and booked a room for me."
  • He continued, "Few minutes after arriving at the hotel, I went to take a shower since I was coming directly from work that day. I had not expected that on stepping out of the bathroom, I would meet Salome comfortably seated on the bed of the room she had booked for me, naked."
  • "I was shocked that you appeared at that same time and saw me in such a compromised state." He concluded.
  • "You had a business meeting with your cousin at an hotel and you didn't see any need to tell me, as your financeé then?" Octavia questioned.
  • "Honestly, I can't believe the tale you just told." Octavia fired back.
  • "Please leave. I don't want to feel like I'm being stalked." Octavia then began to walk away from him. As she walked in, she felt her heart break as though she was at fault.
  • Was he really telling the truth? Octavia wondered.
  • Octavia didn't know what to believe.
  • As soon as she walked in, her children came to greet her. She ignored all the events that had happened that day and spent the rest of the day with her children.
  • Around 12:05PM in the midnight, Octavia woke up from a dream that hurts her soul even she wakes up. The dream was what happened on the first day she met Cullan. They had both connected naturally as if they had known each other for so long. The way he approached her, made her blush, the way he had stylishly collected her number and asked her out...
  • Octavia sat upright. She slept by 11, who would have known she will wake up just an hour later. Why was she having this type of dream after six years of leaving him?
  • Octavia stood and went instinctively to the window, surprisingly, she saw that Cullan's car was still there. Could it be that he was yet to go home?
  • However, Octavia couldn't see him around. She then stepped out of the apartment and began to walk towards where his car was parked. It was so dark but she didn't mind.
  • When she almost got to the car, a voice almost send her heart off her chest, "looking for me?"
  • Octavia turned and saw Cullan leaning by the tree, "Octavia, now that you are back, I can't let you out of my sight."
  • Octavia sighed, "won't you ever go to your house?"
  • He walked towards her, this time, he closed all the gaps between them and then plant a kiss on her cheek, "I know I still have a tiny place in your heart, Octavia. But I'll take it slowly. If you want me to go home, all you have to do is hug me and promise you'll pick my call whenever I call."
  • Took a while before she responded, "I won't promise I'll answer your call whenever you call since we are no more in a relationship."
  • "But if a hug will let you leave, cool.' Octavia gave him a brief hug that lasted less than a second.
  • Cullan nodded his head a number of times quietly, then got inside his car, looked at her one more time before eventually driving off.
