Chapter 2 Two

• The following day, Octavia, Dressed in a long sleeved, high necked white shirt and a full skirt falling just below her knees, she walked glamorously to the Hiring Manager's office. She was directed to this place by the receptionist.
• As soon as she walked in, her heart skipped at the sight of one of the frames in the office. The person in the frame looked like the man she had a one night stand with six years ago.
• The man, who seemed to be the hiring manager looked up and asked, "Octavia?"
• "Yes." She immediately composed herself and responded. Her eyes still darting time and time again towards where the frame was.
• "Please have your sit." He gestured. Took her lots of courage before she sat.
• "The position you filed in for is not available at the moment." The hiring manager said.
• "But I..."
• "I know." He interrupted. "There's another position available. With a slightly higher pay."
• "Oh, please fill me in." Octavia requested. Even if she didn't get the job her children had originally helped her filed for, whatever job she gets here will still be worth it. Since this company's networth runs into billions.
• "Can you work as the personal assistant to the CEO?"
• Octavia furrowed her brow in shock, is this a prank or what? Isn't that one of the top positions available in the company?
• "Of course." She replied. "Of course I can." She almost couldn't contain her excitement.
• The man nodded and handed over a document to her. Octavia scanned through the document and saw that it was a contract agreement. But as she began to read, her heart began to leap like it will leap off her throat, she paused at some point and looked at him, "permit me to ask, but this job is that of a personal assistant and not that of a personal bodyguard, right?"
• "If you are not interested, you can just say it."
• Octavia became confused and frightened at the same time. "But I'm being asked to learn how to use a gun. What will a personal assistant need a gun for?"
• "I'll take that as a NO." He collected the document from her and added, "there's someone else in line. You may take your leave."
• Octavia stood at once, her eyes on that particular frame on the wall. It seems that man on the wall is really the man she has a one night stand with years ago. But what is his picture doing here.
• Does the man work here now?
• The hiring manager called the security when he noticed she was not leaving. At once, two security men barged inside the room. "Escort this woman out!"
• "I'm taking the job." Octavia bursted out.
• As weird as the terms of the jobs are, Octavia still took it. Both out of curiosity and because she can't afford to loose this big opportunity.
• The hiring manager dismissed the security men and then handed the document over to her again, telling her to do the needful. Octavia signed the document and passed it back to him.
• Then he stood and stretched his hands towards her, "Benjamin."
• "Nice meeting you, Mr. Benjamin."
• "I'll lead you to the CEO, come with me."
• Octavia followed him out of his office but she glanced back at the frame on the wall once more before vanishing out of the office.
• "Is there anything I should know about him? I mean the CEO?" She questioned.
• "He's the CEO of Williams corporation, the biggest company here in New York." He replied with sarcasm.
• "I see..." As if she didn't already know that.
• Soon, they both appeared before a office. The man placed his thumb somewhere around the door and it gave way after which the both of them walked in.
• The CEO was on his seat and right before him were two guest, all dressed in this long coat that goes down their waist. Also, the men had cigarettes in their hand. It's not wonder the office smells of thick cigarettes and tobacco.
• Is this the man she'll be working for? Should she be scared?
• It seeing dawned on her that thjs CEO was the man she had a one night stand with six years ago.
• The CEO, Lachlan Williams said to Benjamin, "is this my new assistant?"
• "Yes, sir."
• "And you confirmed that she had thoroughly read all the terms in the contract?"
• "She did, sir." Benjamin responded.
• Lachlan returned his focus on his guest. "See you some other time, gentlemen."
• The two men shook hands with him and walked away.
• Benjamin also walked away.
• Then, only Octavia and Lachlan were left in the office.
• "Good morning, sir." She officially greeted.
• Lachlan Williams relaxed on his seat, staring deep into her eyes, "I thought you wouldn't accept the job."
• Octavia recognized him but she wasn't sure if he does recognize her. But with the way he's staring at her, it seemed he crystal clear remembered her.
• "It's scary, expecially that part where I have to learn the use of gun. I'm not particularly good with guns." Octavia said.
• "Oh, you will need it for your protection." He says.
• "Protection from what?"
• He smirked, still staring at her for a while then he suddenly spoke, "You dissapeared after that night. I had my men look all over the city for you but you were no where to be found. Did you leave because of your ex husband? You can't afford to see him again since you broke up with him,huh?"
• "I just wanted to start my life afresh. And... I need to let you know I'm not a prostitute."
• So what are you? A woman who hooks up random men for sex is called?" He chirped. "That doesn't matter now. Why did you leave?"
• "But you left before I could even wake up?" Octavia asked. "I do not think we would have anything in common afterwards."
• He paused for a while then hummed, "this business is just a front for what I really do. You must be loyal. The day you snitch on me is the day you die."
• "I'm getting scared now. May I ask what it is you really do?"
• "My last two assistants were murdered in cold blood cause they were caught snitching on me. And don't think you can back out now. You are in and there's no going back." He says. "And you will do whatever it is I command. Let's just say, you are my property now."
• Hearing that, Octavia's eyeballs almost fall off. Her heart jumped and she immediately began to regret taking this job. If she dies, what then happens to her kids?
• "I think I have to reconsider the job, sir. I have too many things at stake in my life." She said.
• "Did you not just hear what I say? Did you even finish reading the contract before putting your signature?"
• Honestly, the contract was too bulky, she had only scanned through. She didn't do thorough reading since that will take so much time plus it's too boring. Who has the time to read twenty pages of clauses and sections.
• "You can't quit in the first one year. The contract is renewable after every year, you can choose to quit at the end of this calendar year." He said.
• Octavia's mood fell, "I'm scared. I don't want to get involved in any illegal stuff."
• He took his eyes from her and set it on his computer, as if he was reading through something there, "I was told about a new set of students enrolled in a school my cousin attends."
• "I was told they had same resemblance with me. Benjamin is advising me to do a DNA."
• Octavia swallowed. Guessing that could be her kid. "If you didn't have raw sex with anyone, you can just ignore."
• "I fuck every now and then, what are you talking about? You think I'm celibate?"
• "It's just that I always warn every woman I maybe with never to have kids. I hate kids." He said. "I may have to teach their mother some lessons so she can know not to mess with me."
• To that, Octavia didn't really know what to say.
• He suddenly stated, "Your ex husband is having his wedding tomorrow, I believe you are aware?"
• Wait! He knows about her ex husband already?
• Octavia squinted her face, she shook her head in response, "I've cut all connections with him, sir. I have no idea."
• "I was invited. However, I'll be unavailable tomorrow. I want you to go and represent me. That's your first task as my assistant, make sure you act well as my proxy."
• Octavia clenched her fist secretly, 'it's already worse knowing that bastard wants to get married. But knowing that she had to attend is killing her on the inside.'
• "Your office is just right beside mine. If you are confused about anything, Benjamin will put you through. You may leave now." He said and then brought out a suitcase, then he placed it on his table.
• He was unzipping the suitcase when Octavia, who was already walking out suddenly paused and turned back to him, "sir, will I really have to be doing illegal stuffs? Apart from this secretary works if course?"
• "My father leads the most dangerous cartel in Italy. He's the most feared kingpin and I'm his only heir. I rule over our cartel here in New York." He s
• ays casually. "You know what I do now. So brace yourself up and stop acting like a kitten. Go!"
• "Ha... I see..." She stuttered and walked out.
