Chapter 15 How Could She Let You Down

• Infuriated, she flung off Gu Chenxuan’s hand immediately. “I said, I’m not feeling well, and I’ll go back home right after I pick up my food. If you want to go for a ride, get someone else. I’m sure many people will entertain you.”
• Unknown to Tang Muyue, Song Jingyuan was hiding in a corner. She was taking pictures of Gu Chenxuan holding the former’s hands while he looked at her with adoration.
• “Tsk, tsk, tsk.” Song Jingyuan was pleased. Now that’s what I’m here for!
• Lately, the complete change in Tang Muyue’s personality had aroused her suspicion.
• Back then, Tang Muyue would believe whatever she said and do her bidding.
• Nowadays, her friend would turn down her invitations and ignore Gu Chenxuan, the man she had been crazy about.
• It had bothered Song Jingyuan because she couldn’t figure out what was wrong. So, she decided to follow Tang Muyue and Lin Jinyuan after their lecture class. After the duo left the cafeteria, she followed Tang Muyue all the way to Li Group Corporation.
• When her target was still nowhere to be seen during lunchtime at noon, Song Jingyuan took matters into her own hands and created a “chance encounter” for Tang Muyue. She called Gu Chenxuan and invited him out for lunch. If her plan worked and the two ran into each other, she would use the opportunity to stir a rift between Tang Muyue and Li Xuanxiao.
• After a long and fruitless stakeout, she had to go to the washroom. To her great surprise, she came out in time to catch her target red handed.

She has gone too far and let you down! Don’t worry. I will talk some sense into her and make sure she reflects on her insensible behaviour.
• She hoped her text would incite an argument between Li Xuanxiao and Tang Muyue. Besides expressing her disappointment, she was also smart enough to make it sound like she was genuinely concerned about them, while promising to guide Tang Muyue back on the right path.
• Li Xuanxiao was having a meeting in the conference room when he heard the notification from his cell phone.
• The photo from Song Jingyuan infuriated him.
• Confused by his furious expression, the board of directors exchanged glances. They could see that their CEO had no intention of continuing with the meeting.
• A livid Li Xuanxiao closed his notebook as he stood up and said, “That’s all for today’s meeting. You’re dismissed.”
• He turned and left the conference room. Xu Mo was right behind his boss as he silently held his breath.
• Li Xuanxiao was going to unleash his wrath at Tang Muyue when he returned to his office, but she was nowhere to be seen.
• He turned to Xu Mo. “Where is she?”
• Terrified, the assistant froze. He replied honestly, “Young Master, Young Mistress said she was hungry, and she went out for lunch.”
• Why did she take so long to buy some food? Our meeting started forty minutes ago. She should be back by now.
• It was then that he recalled the image sent by Song Jingyuan. Li Xuanxiao clenched his hands into balls of fists as his eyes burned with anger.
• Meanwhile, at the restaurant, Tang Muyue thought Gu Chenxuan would back off after she rejected him. However, he persisted and leaned closer. “No matter who I’m dating, you know they couldn’t be compared to you.”
• He reached out for her hands again.
• Her hands are so soft and they smell nice too, he thought.
• She slapped his hands away and scolded, “Gu Chenxuan, you can talk, but please stop touching me!”
• Instead of taking her words to heart, he smiled nonchalantly. “Stop acting, Tang Muyue. You used to love it. I suppose you’re dying to get closer to me, right? I’m just doing you a favor by making things easier for you.”
• Tang Muyue almost burst out laughing when she heard that. “Gosh, you’re such a narcissist! Have I ever said that I like you? Get your ears checked by a specialist because you are hearing things!”
• She was amazed with herself. How could she fall for him when she had such a perfect man like Li Xuanxiao by her side?
• She ignored him and headed straight into the washroom.
• Disgusted by Gu Chenxuan’s touch, she turned on the tap and scrubbed her hands vigorously with liquid soap under the running water.
• What an egoistic bastard! Does he really think that every woman would fall for him? She grumbled inwardly to herself.
• Her hands were a bright red when she finally stopped.
• Gu Chenxuan was still there when she came out of the washroom. The meal she ordered was already packed and ready for her collection.
• She left immediately after she picked up her lunch without another word.
• Who does she think she is? She had the gall to ignore me when she should be grateful that I am interested in her.
• Song Jingyuan came out of her hiding spot as soon as Tang Muyue left. She pretended nothing had happened as she apologized to Gu Chenxuan, “I’m so sorry, Chenxuan. You must have been waiting for quite some time. I had a stomachache, that's why it took so long.”
• She was certain that her photo would provoke Li Xuanxiao.
• They should be fighting over it now. Song Jingyuan was overjoyed at the thought of it.
• Tang Muyue returned to Li Group Corporation with the lunch.
• She didn’t know Li Xuanxiao’s food preferences, so she ordered a variety of dishes from the restaurant.
• Even though her arm was aching from the weight, Tang Muyue was feeling happy in her mind. I wonder if Li Xuanxiao would be surprised when he saw the amount of food I bought?
• She finally made it back to the office, and he was already sitting at his table, waiting for her.
• Tang Muyue rushed over to him and placed the food happily on the table.
• “Xuanxiao, guess what I bought for you?”
• She presented the dishes one by one.
• “There’s braised pork knuckles, barbeque pork ribs, steamed fish, carrot and seaweed soup, sour spicy noodles… I bought some vegetarian dishes too. There must be something that you like!”
• It was only a simple lunch, but she was over the moon and she failed to notice Li Xuanxiao’s gloomy expression.
• Li Xuanxiao totally ignored what she bought, and he was just staring at Tang Muyue.
• Her face flushed from carrying all the food. However, she maintained a wide smile on her face, looking lovely as ever.
• His gaze became increasingly hostile by the second.
• She was so happy after meeting Gu Chenxuan! I knew I shouldn’t have trusted her so easily.
• After witnessing her behavior for the past few days, he almost thought that she had turned over a new leaf.
• Now that he thought about it, he realized she was still the wilful and stubborn girl. She would never give in. She's ruthless, and she doesn’t know when to give up. What are the odds of her changing so easily? She even said that she would only fall for Gu Chenxuan. Why did she lie to me?
• The more he thought about it, the edgier he became.
• She reached out to me and made the first move again and again. Is she just messing around with me?
• After she finished showing him the full spread, Tang Muyue raised her head and looked at him.
• Why does he have such an awful look on his face? Did something go wrong at the meeting just now?
• Her heart skipped a beat.
• “Xuanxiao, are you okay?”
• Worried, she tried to touch his face. He shoved her hands away violently, and she fell to the floor.
• “Tang Muyue, stop your pretence. Get out of my sight immediately!” Li Xuanxiao shouted. He was so angry that the veins were protruding on his neck.
• She was confused. Before she could even respond, he swept everything from his desk.
• The hot soup spilled everywhere and scalded Tang Muyue. Her hands were as red as a tomato. Despite that, she didn’t feel the pain. She stared blankly at Li Xuanxiao. “What’s wrong? Why are you suddenly angry? What did I do?”
• Li Xuanxiao’s eyes were full of anger and disgust. “Stop acting! You know what you did!”
• “What… What did I do?” Tang Muyue was confused.
• “You went on a date with someone else under the disguise of buying lunch for me? Ha,” Li Xuanxiao laughed sarcastically. “What a brilliant plan. Tang Muyue, you almost had me fooled.”
