Chapter 10 Plastic Surgery

  • The next morning.
  • Tang Muyue woke up dizzy as the sunlight stung her in the eyes. Li Xuanxiao wasn’t around; she assumed he had already gone off to work.
  • She felt hungry and headed downstairs without changing out of her pyjamas.
  • She didn’t know Li Xuanxiao was at breakfast downstairs with an uninvited guest so early in the morning.
  • It was Gu Wenzhao, one of Li Xuanxiao’s right hand men at work and one of his best friends in life.
  • Right now, he was sitting beside Li Xuanxiao, complaining about all sorts of things.
  • “Xuanxiao, as your bro, I can’t stand it anymore! Just look at your fiancé, messing around with others right after your engagement. Now look at you, coming back to her as if nothing had happened. Sigh, just why are you back? Playing the role of the good husband? You can be a doting husband all you want, I don’t care, but at least make sure the person returns the favor!”
  • Gu Wenzhao couldn’t stop, and he rambled on.
  • “I have heard all sorts of things about your fiancé, like how she was messing around with other guys out there. What about you? Being a widower at home? What’s wrong with you? It’s usually the guy who has fun out there. Why is it the complete opposite when it comes to you?”
  • Li Xuanxiao was having his breakfast calmly. He ignored what Gu Wenzhao said.
  • Gu Wenzhao was annoyed at Li Xuanxiao’s apathy. He sighed heavily, “Sigh, just what on earth did that woman charm you with for you to remain so loyal? There are so many other options available. Why are you limiting yourself? There are so many other women, but you chose her over everyone else. What a waste!”
  • Gu Wenzhao complained incessantly without realizing Tang Muyue was already standing behind him.
  • Tang Muyue asked coldly, “Who are you talking about?”
  • “Oh, my heavenly lord!” Gu Wenzhao was completely taken by surprise, “Who are you? You have scared the hell out of me!”
  • As Gu Wenzhao turned around, he saw Tang Muyue and questioned, “Who are you? Don’t tell me that you are Tang Muyue?”
  • “Then who do you think I am?”
  • Tang Muyue raised her chin and coldly gazed at Gu Wenzhao. She was cocky, but her behaviour also made her rather cute at the same time.
  • Gu Wenzhao was completely blown away. This woman is Tang Muyue? It couldn’t be, right? He could never forget those horrifying clothes that Tang Muyue used to wear. The leopard-print stockings, crocodile skin jacket… The list has no end.
  • Today’s Tang Muyue, however, looked fresh. And with that beautiful face she resembled an angel who had graced the earth from above.
  • “Hey, did you just come back from Korea? Why do you look so different from the Tang Muyue I used to know?” asked Gu Wenzhao as he attempted to pinch her face to see if she was real.
  • Tang Muyue pushed him away, “You’re the one who went to Korea.”
  • Gu Wenzhao brushed off his embarrassment with a grin and changed the topic immediately, “Speaking of which, why are you home?”
  • Tang Muyue rebutted him grumpily, “What do you mean why am I home? Can’t I be at home? I stay here! do you have a problem with that?”
  • Right after Tang Muyue had finished berating Gu Wenzhao, she stared him in the eyes and hopped to Li Xuanxiao’s side.
  • She pouted, “Xuanxiao, don’t listen to him. There are plenty of women in the world, but the best is already right here.”
  • She spoke sweetly, as if she was trying to please him.
  • Gu Wenzhao couldn’t believe what he was witnessing. She seemed completely different from the spoiled brat he used to know.
  • “Damn! Tang Muyue, is it my problem or your problem? Let me see. Did you hit yourself anywhere? Did you lose your mind? Why do you look like a different person?”
  • He turned his focus back to Li Xuanxiao, “It’s not that I’m overthinking, man. I think you should really bring her to the hospital. She may be hot-tempered, but she’s still your wife after all. We can’t let anything happen to her.”
  • Tang Muyue was fuming when she heard that. She turned around swiftly, “What’s wrong with you, Gu Wenzhao?”
  • Before she could throw a tantrum, Li Xuanxiao comforted her gently, “Stop fooling around. Let’s just have breakfast in peace.”
  • Tang Muyue held back her temper. She sat down accordingly, like a cat that had undergone obedience training. So adorable.
  • Gu Wenzhao was shocked by what was happening. He was totally puzzled; everything seemed really bizarre.
  • Is this really Tang Muyue? She can’t be her doppelganger, right?
  • After finishing their breakfast, Li Xuanxiao and Gu Wenzhao headed to the office.
  • Tang Muyue sent them off happily. Right before Li Xuanxiao left the house, she told him sweetly, “I’ll be waiting for you tonight. Let’s have dinner together.”
  • Li Xuanxiao didn’t reply; this time he’s the one nodding obediently.
  • Gu Wenzhao was terribly curious about what might have happened. When the men went into the car, he asked Li Xuanxiao immediately, “Xuanxiao, what happened exactly? Why does Tang Muyue look like a different person?”
  • Li Xuanxiao replied gently, “I don’t know, either.”
  • Gu Wenzhao was in disbelief, “No way. How could you not know what happened?”
  • Li Xuanxiao replied helplessly, “She’s been behaving like this ever since the night of our engagement. I’m not sure why, either. Perhaps only she knows what happened exactly.”
  • “Is that so…” As Gu Wenzhao heard what he said, he contemplated for a while.
  • At last, he firmly cautioned Li Xuanxiao, “Xuanxiao, you’d better watch out. After all, knowing Tang Muyue’s history, who knows what she’s trying to do again? Don’t give in to her so easily!”
  • Li Xuanxiao digested his friend’s advice in silence as the car headed straight to their office.
  • Tang Muyue knew very well that she had totally lost Li Xuanxiao’s trust. It would be tough for her to regain that trust now.
  • No matter what, Tang Muyue would not give up.
  • Tang Muyue put on her makeup after breakfast and headed off to university.
  • She was in her penultimate year and it was almost time for graduation. Tang Muyue was ashamed of her university results thus far: they were terrible. If I want to graduate, I need to catch up with my studies from now on.
  • Previously, Song Jingyuan used to outshine Tang Muyue with the exceptional academic results that she was so proud of.
  • As long as they were together, they would be compared against each other. One was a hardworking young lady, whereas the other was a lazy spoiled brat from a rich family.
  • No matter what, it’s almost time for graduation. Upon graduation, Tang Muyue planned to carry out her internship at the Li Group Corporation and then join the company as an official employee.
  • By doing so, I’ll get to see Li Xuanxiao every day. She wouldn’t let go of any opportunity to get him back.
  • Apart from that, I could also avoid being usurped by Song Jingyuan. So why not?
