Chapter 37

  • The atmosphere in the packhouse the next morning was completely different. Something hung heavy in the air like a dark cloud. All the maids stood at the table with their heads bowed, no one daring to speak for fear of being punished because they knew that Alpha and Luna were in a bad mood that day.
  • Harper scooped up a spoonful of cereal and raised her eyes to peek at Wyatt. He was acting so indifferent. So distant. She sighed to herself and returned her eyes to the bowl in front of her, absentmindedly stirring her spoon, watching the little pieces of cereal swirl around her bowl. She hesitated to take another spoonful of her breakfast, her mind deep in thought. She couldn't help but mull over her relationship with Wyatt. She still had no idea what happened the day before.
  • Wyatt, on the other hand, was completely oblivious to Harper's woes. Her strange expression and quizzical stares had gone unnoticed. All he could think about was Beta Khai and how Harper and Nyra were connected. He, Alpha Jaylani, and Beta Khai had arranged to play golf together that day. It would give him a great opportunity to test the waters and see if Bane Pack truly intended to cooperate. Given that Harper was his Luna, it was customary that she attend as well. Despite that, he was still hesitant to ask her after everything that he now knew.
