Chapter 5 – The Jealous Ex

• The morning after the gala, the internet was full of pictures of our kiss. Every news website was talking about the billionaire Serena Hart and her mysterious new wife. I sat at the kitchen counter, scrolling through the articles on my phone. People were calling it a fairy tale romance. It felt bizarre because it was a complete lie.
• Serena came into the kitchen, wearing her usual work suit. She poured herself a cup of coffee. 'The board members are satisfied,' she said. 'The stock prices went up this morning. The kiss worked.'
• 'You should have warned me,' I said, looking down at my coffee. 'I was not prepared for that.'
