Chapter 16 – Epilogue: The New School

  • Six months after our wedding, life settled into a beautiful routine. The penthouse felt alive, filled with laughter instead of silence. Serena continued to run Hart Enterprises, but she worked much less overtime. She made sure to return home by six o'clock every single night so we could prepare dinner together. My own dream was also coming true. With Serena's support and my savings, I finally opened my own private kindergarten school. It was a simple building with a large outdoor playground, and we already had thirty children registered for the upcoming term.
  • On a Tuesday afternoon, I was sitting at my new office desk at the school, arranging the lesson plans for the next week. The classroom next door was silent because the kids had gone home an hour ago. I felt incredibly lucky. I went from sleeping at a train station to running my own school, married to a woman who loved me completely. Serena often dropped by after her office meetings just to check on me or bring lunch for the staff. She loved seeing me happy, and she did everything possible to keep me smiling.
  • The heavy wooden front door of the school opened, and I heard footsteps in the hallway. I stood up, assuming it was Serena coming to pick me up early. I walked out of my office into the main corridor with a big smile on my face. However, it was not Serena standing near the entrance. It was a tall man wearing a grey jacket, holding a leather folder in his hand. He looked around the clean walls with a critical, cold expression.
