• Looking down at Serena kneeling on the floor, all my remaining defenses crumbled. The powerful billionaire was completely bare before me, showing all her flaws and her deepest feelings. I realized that my own fear of being hurt again was the only thing keeping us apart. I loved her, too. I had loved her gentle side, the way she protected me, and the way she looked at me when she thought I was asleep.
• I knelt down on the floor next to her and reached out, placing my hands on her wet cheeks. 'Get up, Serena,' I said softly. 'A CEO shouldn't kneel on a dirty floor.'
