Chapter 8 First Visit

  • "We are sorry Ma'am. On behalf of the others, please forgive us. I promise I won't misbehave again. I will know my place henceforth…"the butler pleaded.
  • Pamela glanced at him, he looked remorseful and his head was bowed. Romeo didn't spare him a glance and was going to Walk past him when Pamela spoke "Forgive them this time. I'm sure they will change for the good".
  • Pamela wondered how Romeo knew about it. Was there CCTV footage that exposed their disrespectful attitude?
  • Last thing she knew, she didn't say a word of it to anyone. They probably might be thinking she made a report about them. Anyways, she knew her conscience was clear as Crystal.
  • "It wasn't my decision Mrs Hayden, Mrs Leah Hayden gave the orders" Romeo replied. This truly was not his decision. His boss' mother did.
  • "I will have a talk with her, she's my mother-in-law after all" Pamela chimed. She smiled and Romeo shrugged.
  • As Pamela was driven in Louis Hayden's car, she cannot imagine that she would ever be able to ride in such a car.
  • She was sitting at the passenger's seat while Romeo was at the copilot's seat. The chauffeur was driving and she could imagine what it's like to be sitting next to Louis Hayden.
  • The guy is charming and strikingly handsome. Though looked thin and helpless in his unconscious state, there was this aura she couldn't explain, coming from him.
  • What kind of accident was that, that could make someone fall into a coma for months? This would really be hurting his parents.
  • This phase is an unpleasant one for his parents, especially being an only child. If anything happens to Louis, will his parents be able to endure the pain of losing an only child?
  • Soon, they arrived at the Hayden's Mansion. Before the car could park properly for Pamela to open the door, Romeo alighted and held the door for her.
  • Pamela was surprised at the actions of Romeo but quickly she waved the thoughts off. She was Louis Hayden's wife after all.
  • She looked at the mansion and admired it. These people were wealthy and she can tell how sophisticated they are.
  • As they approached the door, Romeo was walking ahead of her and she followed simply. Before getting to the door, it opened on its own. Romeo stepped aside and let Pamela walk in.
  • When she stepped into the sitting room, the door closed. She looked back and saw that Romeo was standing like a Steward at the door, he dared not come in along with her.
  • Pamela was dazed by the beauty of the room. Such elegance, such wealth on display. Every object in the sitting room was glittering and classical.
  • It was identical to Louis' sitting room except that this one is larger than his. She wasn't from a poor home though, but she can conveniently say they are a middle class family.
  • "Hello Pamela"
  • The voice came from behind her. She startled and quickly turned, glancing behind. She was dazed to find her mother-in-law standing with her hands on the rail of the stairs.
  • Before she could say anything, Leah apologised "I'm sorry if I startled you" she was smiling. Her smiles were beautiful and Pamela could tell she definitely was a beautiful woman in her younger years.
  • "No, you shouldn't be apologising. Good to see mother" Pamela replied, taking a few steps towards Leah and the older woman met her midway, giving her a warm hug.
  • "Welcome to the Hayden's Mansion" Leah declared, bringing Pamela to sit down on the sofa and take the seat adjacent to her.
  • "Thank you ma'am" Pamela replied, looking down at her fingers and fiddling with it. She obviously was blank about what the future held for her and Louis' Hayden.
  • "Don't be formal with me. Call me Leah" the older woman declared. Soon the servants came over and served them two glasses of juice.
  • Leah cannot stop glancing at Pamela from her split vision. The latter took a sip from her glass and placed it down.
  • "Let's have breakfast. Ellis and I were waiting to have breakfast with you" Leah declared. She stood up, and ushered Pamela to the dinning just as Ellis came to join them.
  • Immediately Pamela saw Louis Hayden's father, she stood up in reverence. She said hello to the older man and Ellis motioned for her to sit.
  • Ellis Hayden is a man in his late fifties. He was tall and muscular. He carries a short hair with a few grey hair staining his dark coloured hair.
  • "How are you Pamela?" Ellis asked in a hoarse voice. His son had taken 70% of his personality and Pamela could see it. The difference between the two men was that one was younger and the other was older.
  • Louis' parents are cute and charming. His mother is still looking so adorable and his father still possesses his charming attributes.
  • "I'm fine sir," Pamela replied, taking her seat. Breakfast was served and the three adults had their meal.
  • This was her first visit to Louis' parents . She had been married to their son and it is only expected that she visits them.
  • "You will be going to see your parents today, right?" Leah Hayden asked. She started a conversation. Twas the night before the wedding that she knew that Pamela Grayson wasn't a biological daughter of her family.
  • Why then was she referred to as the eldest daughter of the Grayson's family. She was adopted and it appeared she didn't know the truth of her identity.
  • "I..I.."Pamela stammered and Leah quickly came to her aid. "Not a problem. Just asking though"
  • Pamela nodded. She doesn't know why her mother in-law asked her that question but she was not ready to go to her parents place.
  • She didn't miss them at all. Not after what they did to her. But if Ms Leah insisted that she goes there, she would, just to please her.
  • After the breakfast, Ellis left the two women and went upstairs while Leah led Pamela back to the sitting room.
  • "There's something we need to talk about" Leah interrupted Pamela's thought. This is the critical part of her reason for making Pamela her son's wife.
  • She didn't discuss this with the Grayson's. But now, she would ask Pamela for her kindness.
  • Pamela nodded with a smile and Leah came over, held her hand and a lone tear dropped from her eyes.
