Chapter 11 A New Dawn

  • He had sacrificed a lot just to let Pamela remain a member of his family. He had pleaded with Freya not to let the cat out of the bag.
  • She told her daughter Emma the truth. He allowed Freya to enforce the marriage of Pamela to the Hayden's family, so as to let her leave the house and have peace.
  • But now, everything was exposed. Lucas had betrayed her and didn't feel remorseful about it. She lost the trust of everyone.
  • Pamela couldn't control her tears. She let it loose. She started sobbing uncontrollably. Romeo looked at her from the rear view mirror and sighed.
  • How was he going to console her, he heard the words directed at her. She probably doesn't know she was not a true member of that family.
  • So much hatred. How can she live with such reality now? If Mr Hayden was fine, he would have given her a better identity and helped her reclaim her lost self esteem.
  • But now, who will help her, except Mr Hayden's parents. How can one experience so much disappointment in one day?
  • Pamela held a tissue, cleaning her tears. Everything makes sense to her now. How can she not know this, how can she not understand the fact that no parents could treat their own daughter the way the Grayson's treated her all these years?
  • She was hated, humiliated and bullied, but she took it all. She did because she thought they were her family and can only mean good to her.
  • Despite her sobbing, she knew she cannot hate them nor despise them. They were her family, that had always been her thoughts until the truth was spelt on her face.
  • Emma was right, she was stupid not to see it all these years. How come she's the last person to know this truth about herself? The butler in Louis Hayden's Villa knows about it.
  • Emma and Lucas also know except her. Everyone knew about her except herself. Incredible height of stupidity. Now that she's known, she has no ties with the Grayson's anymore.
  • She had paid for their kindness in exchange for the gain of a forced marriage they forced down her throat. She's not owning them neither had they raised her without a profit.
  • Everything is even now. She is all by herself. One day, she might decide to find out her true identity and who her real parents are.
  • The next day, Pamela woke up and had a bath. Yesterday was the past, the dawn of the new day is the beginning of a new phase of her life.
  • The pains of yesterday had passed under the bridge. The scars might still be there, but the pain was gone.
  • The discovery of who she had always been shouldn't have an effect on who she would be from that moment forward. The new identity, the new person she is now and the impeccable future ahead of her is what matters.
  • She dressed up and got ready to meet Leah at the hospital. She took a quick glance at Louis and smiled. Someday, not far away from that day, she would be carrying Louis Hayden's baby in her belly.
  • It would be amazing, she probably would be the first pregnant virgin the world would have. She would become pregnant and still keep her virginity, such an amazing experience.
  • She stepped out of the bedroom. She was amazed at the drastic change in the behaviour of the servants. They all came before and bowed in respect.
  • Pamela was taken aback. She had never experienced such a level of respect before. She wasn't in any way better than they were when she was living in Grayson's house.
  • In fact, she was a maid. She doesn't have to polish it as the hardworking daughter of the family. She was their maid and until yesterday, she didn't realise it.
  • She smiled and said good morning to them. She is not going to take herself so high. She just wants to live her life in peace and quietness.
  • The table for breakfast was set and Pamela took a few bites of pizza and a cup of coffee. She soon left in Louis Hayden's car, towards the City hospital.
  • Leah Hayden was the happiest woman in the entire Oak City. She least expected that Pamela would agree to surrogacy.
  • She was worried that she would refuse and say she wasn't told, she was going to bear Louis Hayden a child. But then, she agreed.
  • She promised to help her in whatever way she could. And when she told her to bear the Hayden's family an heir, she didn't hesitate.
  • Though Louis had been unconscious. The doctors have been able to work on him and collect his semen, saved it in a semen bank and have been waiting to carry out an artificial insemination.
  • Now, they were going to meet at the hospital. Pamela will be examined and tested. If everything goes well, she would be told when exactly she would be inseminated.
  • She really wishes everything goes well. At least, she would be able to have a grandchild from Louis. He possibly wouldn't let them be without an heir to the family.
  • Ellis kissed her temple and wished her best of luck with their meeting with the doctor. He was as excited as Leah. But she seemed more concerned about it than him.
  • She has never missed every slight chance to blame herself for not being able to have another child besides Louis. He had told her not to blame or fault herself, but the more he coaxed her, the more it seemed his words were falling on deaf ears.
  • Leah nodded and slipped into the car. She looked at her wristwatch, thirty minutes left with her appointment with the doctor.
  • Twenty minutes later, Leah arrived at the City hospital. Pamela was there five minutes earlier than her. As Leah walked through the door elegantly, she sighted Pamela.
  • "Pamela dear" Leah called. She was all smiles. She was impressed by Pamela's punctuality. She kept seeing amazing qualities in this daughter in-law of hers.
  • No matter who raised a child, the good qualities in the gene cannot be easily polluted. Who would have agreed that this amazing girl was raised by that covetous woman, Freya Grayson?
  • She wondered how the girl coped with her foster family, especially her mother and sister. Those duo were two terrible kinds of people.
  • "Hello Ms Leah" Pamela chimed, standing up and walking to meet her mother-in-law Midway. The older woman smiled and held her hand, leading her to the office they should be attended to.
  • Pamela was not supposed to sit at the reception. But she probably doesn't know her worth and position yet. She's Louis Hayden's wife and not some random patients in the hospital.
  • Walking with Leah Hayden, Pamela saw how heads glanced in their direction. Everyone's stare towards her changed. She seemed to be some kind of celebrity or something.
  • Leah walked with her head raised and her shoulders high. Some people were saying some words of greetings to her. She simply glanced at them with a smile and waved.
  • Those she smiled at were very excited. Pamela wondered if Leah's smile contained some kind of sweetness that made those people happy that she smiled.
  • She saw people waving at her too with admiration. She wondered if the affluence she was having would be greater than this if she was walking hand in hand with Louis Hayden himself.
  • Leah arrived at a door and pushed it open. She walked in and Pamela did the same, after her. She saw the door led to another different office.
  • They took a seat. Leah looked at her wristwatch. Few minutes more and they would be invited to come over. She glanced at Pamela and smiled.
  • Pamela took a quick glance at the various doors and the tag attached to each. There are doors with tags such as fertility clinic, gynaecological clinic, Maternity centre, and others.
  • At exactly four minutes later, a nurse walked up to them and said "You are welcome Mrs Hayden. Please you can come in"
  • Leah nodded and stood up. Pamela also did the same and they both were ushered through the door with the tag Fertility clinic.
  • The doctor stood up immediately they got in and shook hands with Leah and Pamela. "Welcome ladies, please take your seats"
  • A few pleasantries and Leah introduced Pamela as her daughter in-law. The doctor congratulated her and shook her hand again.
  • "Louis is lucky to have such a beautiful woman as his wife" the doctor complimented. Pamela felt her chin flushed with redness.
  • Louis is not even aware of whatever was happening around him let alone being married. And yet the doctor said he was lucky.
  • Anyways, Pamela quickly regained her wits and thanked the doctor. She smiled broadly to cover up her uneasiness.
  • "I want you to examine her.." Leah began. She told the doctor why they had come and he was happy with Leah's explanation.
  • Pamela was asked a few questions. When she menstruated last, her cycles and the sorts. She was soon made to lie on the couch while the doctor examined her.
  • She was subjected to examination on some sophisticated equipment and her blood was taken to the laboratory for examination.
  • In less than two hours, the results were out and the doctor said Pamela was a perfect match and the insemination would be done during her ovulation.
  • And from the examination carried out, the peak of her ovulation was going to be in three days at around 4 am to 10:30 am.
  • That would be the best time they should pick for the exercise. Pamela glanced at Leah and their eyes locked. The older woman's eyes were blinded by tears.
  • Pamela felt her emotions would get entwined with Leah's tears, she tapped her hand with assurance "Everything will be alright, mother"
  • Mother, she called her mother. Leah nodded. Ellis was right when he said they should go ahead with the marriage. He said Pamela might not be anything like her foster mother, Freya.
