• Nathan stepped into view, his eyes blazing with anger. He moved to stand between Anna and me, his posture defensive. “What are you doing, Anna?”
• Anna’s face paled, but she shortly masked her marvel with a defiant glare. “I’m just ensuring she is aware of her place, Nathan. She’s disrupting the pack’s concord.”
• Nathan’s jaw tightened, and he took a step in the direction of Anna, his voice low and dangerous. “You’re the one disrupting the concord proper now. Jacqueline is part of this pack, and you should deal with her with respect.”
