Chapter 1 Her Story

  • Argh!
  • I stood up from my bed. I was fatigued but I needed to get up. I went to the curtains and opened them, hoping for daylight to stream in.
  • But I was surprised.
  • It was still dark and, obviously, it wasn't in the morning. I thought something tragic had happened and, solely because of this, I ran outside my room to tell anyone I could see about it.
  • After running outside my room, I met two guards outside. I was eager to tell them about this, but I decided to be more careful in my approach.
  • “Is this the morning shift?” I asked them slowly. Usually, guards took shifts so they wouldn't be too stressed.
  • “No, milady,” one of them replied. “This is the midnight shift and when it is four o'clock in the morning, we will be relieved.”
  • “What time is it?” I asked solemnly.
  • “We resumed our duty by noon, and it hadn't been up to two hours when we started!” The guard replied with a smile on his face. It seemed like he was charmed by my beauty.
  • “Wow!” I exclaimed. I left the place instantly without showing gratitude to the guards. They didn't need it at all, and I went back to bed.
  • I still had a long night to go, and I was determined to enjoy every bit of my rest.
  • ____________
  • “Wake up, milady!” I heard it now. I opened my eyes slowly and met my maid, Rosa, in the room with me. She was trying to wake me up.
  • “I don't think it's morning!” I told her slowly. “Please, confirm with the guards. It's supposed to be the night shift!”
  • “Nah, milady!” Rosa shouted. “You need to sit up now, brush your teeth, wash your hair, take your bath, dress up, and get your make-up done. If you don't do this early enough, you will miss breakfast!”
  • I sat up instantly. All the words she said before didn't get me up to her last sentence. I loved food and would never want to miss breakfast.
  • “Jeez!” I muttered. I loved using exclamatory words a lot.
  • Rosa smiled. She brought a tray with her and from the tray, she gave me a cup of water.
  • “Nah!” I stopped her. “I need to brush my teeth before I take this water. Even my saliva tastes so bad. The smell is also awful.”
  • “The first thing to do in the morning is to drink a cup of water. I wouldn't mind if you wanted to wash your mouth with some water, but you still need to drink it,” Rosa claimed.
  • I looked towards her and did as she said. In a bit, she was prepared, and she led me to the bathroom. She was with two other maids, and they were going to bathe me.
  • Intro time, yeah!
  • My name is Jacqueline and, obviously, I am the Luna of the Great Starlight Pack. This was the reason why I was honored and respected by all the servants in the Pack. I lived in the Alpha's mansion and there, the Alpha and his family carried out their daily activities.
  • The story of how I became Luna needs to be told. It didn't happen suddenly but through a process.
  • ___________
  • (Throwback)
  • I used to be an Omega of the Pack and I worked as a maid for the higher fellows. I was available to them at all times and, since I was among the lowest sect in the Pack, I couldn't dare go against their order.
  • However, it all ended when I met a drunk man on the streets one day. He was dressed in expensive robes and I could tell that he was rich. He was so drunk, and I knew he would be a target for thieves. They could attempt to steal his expensive robes or even search his body for any other property.
  • I couldn't help but worry. I knew he was drunk, but I didn't want him to get into trouble.
  • “Let me help you!” I told him slowly. He looked at me and I tried to find out if I knew him. I didn't seem to know him either.
  • “Why?” He asked me carefully. “You don't know me, do you?”
  • “I don't know you, but I can't leave you to wander around like that. Here is a delicate place, and you might be in danger,” I told him carefully. I started to look around to make sure that we weren't being watched.
  • “But I can take care of myself. I can fight, and I can take ten men down on my own,” he replied. From this, I was sure he was truly drunk. He was still staggering a bit. I looked at his robe more properly and saw that he had something in his pocket. It was quite big, but I didn't bother to ask about it.
  • “You can't take ten men down when you're drunk!” I told him slowly.
  • “No, I can!” He argued. “Do you even know me? Do you know how strong I am? Do you know how powerful I am? I will hold them by their necks, swing them, break them, destroy them,”
  • “I need you to stop talking, okay? Let's come to my house and you'll be safe.”
  • He didn't argue again. I held him and slowly, we marched to my house. His steps were mismatched at times, but apart from this, it was fine. I got him to my place and took him directly into my room.
  • Where else could I have taken him? I had only one room.
  • I lived in a one-room apartment and it was a hut. It was built with bamboo and I inherited it from my grandmother. I was an orphan and from the stories I was told, my father was a soldier, and he died after fighting for the Pack. I was not yet born when this happened and my mother wasn't told that my father had died. All she knew was that he was on the battlefield.
  • After I was born, the news was disclosed to her, and she had a heart attack instantly. This took her life and I had to live with my grandmother, who was the only surviving relative I had. I lived with her in this one room until she died when I was eighteen, and from then, I lived alone.
  • It's been about seven years since my grandmother died.
  • “Where did you take me to?” He asked me and this broke me from my thoughts. “Get me a bowl of water and let me rinse my face. I'll be sober once I wash my face!”
  • I looked towards him and did as he said. I took him outside the room and watched him as he washed his face. When he was through with this, I noticed that he sobered up. He wasn't sober to the core, but he didn't stagger anymore.
  • I wondered how his body was built. He knew himself to the core.
  • “Goosebumps!” He told me. “You should have given me something more cold. The colder the water, the better!”
  • I smirked.
  • “I wasn't the one who told you to drink in a stupor,” I said slowly. “You should have been watchful when you were drinking.”
  • “I know, but everyone needs alcohol once in a while!” He told me slowly. “Do you mind? I still have a bottle in my pocket!”
  • “Why not?” I replied. “It's quite cold outside so I can't drink here. Let's go inside.”
  • “That small room?” He asked slowly. “You have no chairs and I can't bear to sit on the cold floor.”
  • I thought for a moment.
  • “We can sit on the bed,” I replied with a smile on my face. “What do you think?”
  • “Deal!” He replied and went ahead. He walked properly now and this made me know that he had really sobered up. I had never seen someone like him in my life. It was so shocking to find out that he could control alcohol like this.
  • I followed him now inside the room. I had a lamp inside so we could see ourselves. I took out two cups while he took out a bottle of alcohol from his pocket. I can still remember the big thing I saw in his pocket earlier. Well, it was the bottle.
  • I climbed the bed first, while he did the same after me. Before he did this, he removed his robe and he had only his shorts on. I wondered what he was going to do now.
  • “Why are you removing your robe?” I asked him slowly.
  • “To spice things up!” He winked at me. As he said this, I got insecure. I hoped I didn't help a rapist. We were alone in the room, but he had only his shorts on.
  • Nah.
  • “What!” I shouted.
  • He began to laugh. His laughter was a funny and unique one, and I almost started to laugh as well.
  • “I can't wear the robe and still climb the bed,” he replied slowly. “It's too long and too big, and I have sweated on it already. I think you should take off your dress as well. It would be better if you put on your nightwear. It would make you feel more comfortable.”
  • I nearly froze.
