Chapter 23 Truth And Turning Roads
- Like a soft breeze, the day drifted, warm and full of quiet smiles. Zara and Deen spent the rest of the day dining in their little world, sharing laughter and having clumsy teamwork. There was no space for awkwardness in their midst, as they found comfort in each other's presence. And like the air, the day silently went by.
- Unlike the daytime, the night was surreal, as all the softness disappeared. Curled beneath her duvet, Zara fell asleep, the air still filled with Deen’s lingering scent. Deep into her sleep, she fell into a dream, one that felt way too real.
- Standing at the edge of a cliff was she, a mighty wind whipping her hair, and in the distance stood an ancient wooden house, fog all around, and in her hand, the pendant had a soft glow, one that had an urging feeling to move forward towards the house. As the wind passed, so were the words in her head. “When the time is right….” Attempting to take a step forward, loud footsteps began to shuffle around her. Turning her back, she sees a masculine figure. Thinking perhaps it might be someone she knew, she walked towards the shadow, and just before she could approach, the ground cracked open, causing her to tumble into darkness.
