Chapter 21 Echoes Of The Heart
- The next morning, the sun quietly rose as the golden stripes poured through Zara’s window, caressing her skin, while she endlessly stretched beneath the covers, easing her joints, the kind of stretch that came after a deep, dreamless rest. For the first time since her accident, she felt a bit of clarity in her bones and a weight as heavy as an elephant's foot lifted from her chest. She hadn’t realised earlier, but she did need that sleep more than she thought she would. Knowing she was just a few steps away from knowing her actual identity, she didn’t feel the rush to scribble off the written address or try to force the locket open. She felt an unexplained stillness and calmness within her. She reached for her phone, unlocking it as she was welcomed with tonnes of messages from the night before and early morning. The conversation with her parents and Annabel had drained her so much that she had fallen asleep so deeply that she had no Idea when the messages came in early in the morning.
- Looking at the name that appeared when her screen lit up, her heart fluttered as she couldn’t help but smile from ear to ear again.
- Deen: My Mochi, still nothing.
